Deleting old layouts

Just went through the list on the right section of layouts deleting old layouts and then discovered that my saved layouts were also deleted. Was not expecting that! Is there any way to recover them? Does it warn anywhere that this will happen? Any help appreciated.

Do you have a second installation of Logos? If so, unplug it from the internet and create new saved layouts before you sync again.

For future reference, that is unnecessary. The unnamed layouts (Just time stamps) on the right side are just snapshots giving you a history of sorts. The named ones are apparently your actual layouts.

You might try calling Tech Support. Logos does have some ability to recover deleted items. They can do it for deleted note files, don't know about layouts.

Does it warn anywhere that this will happen?

This has been a frequent complaint for the last 2.5 years. Many things can be deleted without warning.

We do not. And getting Dev to do it (if it is possible) would take more time than just re-creating the layouts.

That's not necessarily true, as he might not even remember all his layouts. I certainly don't.

More importantly, though, what you should get dev to do, is to remove the little x's next to the named layouts, so that only unnamed layouts can be deleted that easily, while named layouts have to be right-clicked in the left column to go away. (And while you're at it, remove the x's from Notes as well, and give us right-click delete instead.)

The fact that so many things in L4 can be deleted without warning—and with little or no chance of recovery—is a constant source of irritation. Why can development not fix these things.

No, customer satisfaction is not low on our priority list at all. The foundation of the company is to provide tools and resources for our customers. From the very beginning we were told that in Logos 4 we were going to believe the user's request to delete items and not give a "are you sure" prompt. This was to in hopesto not clutter up the experience. We have changed some delete icons so that you really had to try to do it, and (in no way am I arguing) I think if you are careful enough you shouldn't ever accidentally delete something.

That having been said, I possess far less sway on subjects like this than your voice does at the uservoice page. If this isn't already there--add it. If it is there--vote for it. And if you have, and you're getting impatience regarding feedback I would advise emailing Bob. He enjoys customer interaction and values it. Bob@logos.com

I don't want to argue, but in many areas or L4 Mac this does not seem to be the case. Perhaps Logos is doing much that we cannot see, but many complaints seem to fall on deaf ears.

To me, UserVoice is more frustrating than useful—I have used all ten votes on projects that seem to get no attention from Logos.
