Curious how ppl do layouts w/ multiple monitors

Hey everybody,

Should be getting my new laptop today w/ 17" display. I also have a 17" CRT sitting around my office (I won't even tell you the specs on the computer the church has in there!). But I was curious how people tend to set up their layouts across two monitors? Any efficient ways to split resources up between the displays? Most of my work is researching for sermons, so that's the context of the layouts I use right now.

Upper left = Passage and Exegetical Guides

Lower left = commentaries

Upper Center = English Translations linked to each other

Lower center = Original Language tools

Upper right = Information Window and Notes Tab

Lower Right = My Base English translation that is not linked so I can look up ancillary passages.

If only working with Logos, you can stretch it across both monitors, to give much space in each of the panes.

Then if you click <full screen> in the window, the display shrinks back to a single monitor.

I tend to keep the main monitor pretty much static, with main Bible alone in the mid-upper and a range of alternate Bibles (inc.a commonly used commentary and a couple of study Bibles) in the mid-lower area. On the main-left I have guides, and on the main right dictionaries and power-lookup.

On the second monitor I split resources between panes that are snapped left or right (although Logos panes that are moved using the windows snap function don't retain their positions after shutdown, but manually resizing the panes to the same size works!). On the pane on the right I have notes, clippings, passage guide, passage list etc. I use a few panes on the left: Original languages resources on one pane, dictionaries/encyclopedia on another, commentaries on another, devotional/illustrations/etc on another.

I also snap my current Word doc to the right half of the second monitor too, which makes it easy to move between some of the panes. If I had a third monitor I think that I would use it for Word/Excel , as I keep having to move between Logos and Word mainly on the second monitor.

I used to have different layouts for different tasks, but found that changes I made on one layout weren't transferred to another, so that going back to an old layout might have lost some recent changes that I wanted on all layouts. It was also a bit more bother changing layouts than I wanted. So I keep one basic layout and close non-essential or uncommon resources as soon as they are not needed any longer. It works for me, but everyone has different ways of working.
