Nicky - Before personal books can sync with the mobile app, the documents have to sync with the Logos servers. Bob has said that this is a project that Logos plans to take up, but has given no time table. Some forum members think this is not a big of task as I do. Think about this: when you download the ESV from the Logos servers, you are downloading the same data that I do. If, on the other hand, you and I both have a copy of "war & peace" as a personal book, the "one" book would be two separate files on the Logos servers. It is easy to imagine that Logos could quickly have an explosion of file space needs to deal with.

My point is that it may require a good deal of patience. On the other hand, Logos could surprise us all tomorrow and debut the pbb store unexpectedly… maybe not. [:)]

Hi, and thanks for your reply...makes lots of sense.

Just out of interest, since we can already import personal docs into our desktop version of Logos (which I presume makes no demand on Logos servers), couldn't a similar feature be added to mobile devices? I know it omits the ability to sync, but it would enable the reading of docs on mobile devices.

Anyway...easy for me to say :)

I am not a programmer, so I can't give a good answer. That would seem to me a difficult proposition. You don't import personal docs into L4, you compile a .docx file into a new format. That would be a difficult trick I think.

if your desire is just to read the document on your iPad, there are any number of solutions which don't even require changing the .docx file format.

Yes, re: importing....forgot that for a moment

The reason I would like to read personal docs on my mobile device is because of scripture verses that can be easily looked up...can't do that in Amazon etc :-)

I agree that this is something we will see in the future, but more distant rather than near. Perhaps the answer to the file space issue is something similar to what amazon does. You have a certain amount of space allocated for PB's and control over which PB's exist in that space. This would enable one to create a PB at home and then sync it to their laptop, iPad, android, etc. If the user desires to do so they can leave the PB on the server or remove it without affecting any of the local devices.

Not being a programmer, I do not know if that is a reasonable solution, nor do I know how easy or difficult it would be ot make it happen.

I do think that PB syncing is not a priority right now because not all users are as interested in using this tool as others. Though interest and useage might increase if some method of syncing was available. Logos has set their priorities based on what they believe is best for their business and this appears to be something that is lower on that list than some (including me) would like to see.
