Setting update channel to 'beta'

The update channel setting in the Android apps (Logos, Faithlife and Vyrso) can be found in the 'About' page. There shouldn't be a need to press 'Enter' or 'Done' on your keyboard. As you type, the app checks to see if the channel exists. If it does, it displays either a checkmark or a download icon as you can see in the screen grabs below.

The check mark indicates that the channel exists and that you already have the latest version installed.

The download icon indicates there's an update available. Tapping that icon will open a browser window with a link to the application.

    Hi John

Just to confirm that this mechanism worked fine for me with the recent beta release for the Logos, Vyrso and Faithlife apps.

    Many thanks

I have Version 1.0.3 Build 40 installed on my Samsung Galaxy S4G phone running Android 2.3.6. I do not have the Update channel on my About screen, it ends at Send Support.

I tried the old beta download link, but got a denied access error message.

    How can I get the 1.1 beta's?

    Hi David

Just to check - have you tried scrolling down the "About" screen?

While it doesn't show any scroll bars it is actually scrollable (scroll bars appear when you start scrolling)

The Update channel only appears on the About page if you installed the app from a download link posted in these forums. The preferred method of installing our apps is through Google Play or through the Amazon Appstore (if you don't have access to the Play store on your device). Installing the app from a store (and please provide a rating) increases the apps visibility so that other new users can more easily discover and install the app.

If you are interested in helping test beta versions of the apps and provide feedback in the forum you can install from the beta links posted in the latest beta announcement. Then if you go to the about page you'll see the update channel. Changing the field to beta should notify you within 12hours after a new beta is released.

If you are going to make the switch from store to channel install please rate the app in Google Play/Amazon Appstore before installing the new beta version.

It *may* be possible to upgrade the app installed from the store (1.0.3) to the latest beta (1.1.2) without losing your downloaded books. You could try this, but don't be too surprised if it doesn't work.

A stable version of the 1.1 apps will be available via Google Play / Amazon Appstore soon.

After looking at the Beta 2 announcement again, http://community.logos.com/forums/p/51003/375812.aspx#375812 , I realized that the Logos 1.1 Beta 2 was a clickable link, which led to the download. I downloaded the Beta 2 file, and now I do have the Set Channel link.

Everything is working fine, and I did not lose my downloaded books!
