Can anyone with Logos give an update as to when we might see Personal Books recognized by the iPad / iPhone app?
I too would like to know this, especially in light of Apple not supporting the iPad 1 with iOS 6. Many loyal Logos customers have been waiting for the ability to have our Personal Books on our iPads. While I hope to upgrade to the iPad 3, I cannot do so yet, and I am sure other loyal Logos customers are in a similar position. My concern is that because we are unable to upgrade to iOS 6 we will be unable to take advantage of this when it releases. I hope Logos will work on getting this feature out well before the iPad 1 becomes unable to update its OS.

My take on it is (and I share the "concern", though probably with less intensity) is that once the Logos iOS app supports Personal Books, it will only be for iPads that can support iOS 6. The wider concern is will Logos continue to build enhancements for the Logos and Vyrso iOS apps so that all features work on BOTH iOS 5 and iOS 6.

I don't think this is an issue. The current app is compatible with iOS 4. I think the personal book issue and iOS 6 are completely unrelated issues. I know Michael is trying to get an answer from Logos (which would be nice [:)]), but I personally think the personal book store is a while off (no inside info, just a hunch). I guess what I am trying to say is that when the Logos app becomes incompatible with iOS 5, it will be time to get a new iPad anyway.
This is on the list, but because it requires syncing potentially very large compiled books to the server (and other technical issues), it's a bit further out. When the feature is in, though, there will also be ways to share your compiled books with others.

Of course, one can take the any personal book that he / she created in Logos, and easily convert it to be read on the iPad in one of the many ebook readers. In that sense you can already read them on the iPad. But what is missed is the Logos search capability and the intergration with one's entire Logos library. That is what I look forward to happening further out there.
The sharing of Personal Books will also be nice.
Being able to search personal books on an Ipad would be nice. My main use however would be to have one open in split screen with a bible...say notes for preaching, teaching, etc.
I wonder why they cannot be incorporated into our libraries with sharing between users coming later when those issues are worked through and the other Logos priorities have run their course?

Personal books are compiled from .docx files. Since there are any number of .docx reading apps (such as pages), there is no reason to convert a personal book to be read on the iPad… Just use the original .docx file.

Does it require syncing very large compiled books to the server? We just desire the ability to input our work into our Logos Library by storing it on the actual hand held devices. Why would Logos need our work on their servers?

Yes, based on the current architecture of the Logos product set.
One of the guiding principles behind the Logos offering is that resources are made available to you on all the supported devices which you use (within the constraints of licensing arrangements with publishers). This is achieved by providing resources on a central set of servers and then serving them to your devices.
Another principle is that data which users input (such as notes or highlights) are also synchronised and this is achieved by a similar mechanism - uploading to central servers and then distributing to local devices.
As such it is a fairly standard cloud-based model.
One of the challenges which people are facing at the moment is that Personal Books which are created in one computer are not synchronised to their other computers (although the metadata is) which means they need to be compiled on each machine. This will be addressed via the central store to which Bob refers.
With this store being in place it makes sense to use the same mechanism to make resources available to mobile devices as well without introducing another mechanism to create resources on them.
This, at least, is my understanding - hope it is helpful.
