Bug: Right Arrow Key not working for New Century Version

Hi,

Can someone please help confirm if this is indeed a bug in Logos Bible Software 4.5c (4.53.0.2254) for Windows.

Open New Century Version,
Use the right arrow key to try navigate to the Bible next in line in the Parallel Resource Set. This is working in Logos 4.5c for Mac, but, not working for Logos 4.5c for Windows.

For reference - I'm running 4.5b SR3 and it seems to work fine on Windows.

So if it is a problem it looks as though it was introduced during 4.5c.

Also works fine for me in Windows running 4.5c RC1.

Check your parallel resource menu and see what the currently selected set has in it.

So, sounds like the suspect must be my system ... I deleted NCV.logos4, and let logos 4 re-download a new copy. Unfortunately, I noticed the same behavior.

My original Column setting was "Auto" ... but, I noticed NCV is not presented as multicolumned like the rest of my translations. I set Column to "None" I hit the right arrow key twice for it to move to the next resource in the Parallel Resource set. (I remember this kind of behaviour happening with old resources in the Libronix days)

Can you set the Column to anything else but "None" to see if the problem exists. Thanks.

PS: Todd, I checked my PRS, I am using the Logos default Bible PRS as NCV is not one of my top 10 English Translation. I have tested by including NCV into my top10 English Bible PRS. The problem is the same.

It works in Logos4 for Mac (same current RC 1 version)?

Some additional information:

I have tested on a friends Real Windows Desktop, who has a different Logos 4 Account. I can recreate the problem I reported here by simply setting the Column setting from "None" to any one of the other options, such as "Auto".

However, I also noticed that with Logos 4.5c RC 1, Logos brought back the Ctrl + Left / Right arrow. Ctrl + Right arrow works for NCV, but not Right arrow only.

Some of us need the Left/Right arrow for navigation when we are running Logos Windows under Parallels on Mac. Ctrl + Left / Right arrow are used by OS X Lion for navigating between full screen sessions.

In any case there is some strange column formatting issues for NCV. Open it as floating Full Screen, I get one column less then all the other English Translations. Once open with more than one column, Hit the Right Arrow a few times slowly, it changes the column formatting from 3 columns to 2 columns to 1 column.

By the way when you set columns to "auto" ... do you actually see multiple columns, can you compare with one of the other translation say NASB95. Can you open NASB95 make it occupy the full screen and turn on Columns to auto, see how many columns you have, do the same for NCV, does it has the same number of columns?

Yes - I do get multiple columns. Here are the two versions side-by-side

In full-screen mode they each show five columns.

Well my worse case scenario; I will simply hide NCV, I have not used that over the years; just that this case, it disable my ability to navigate to the next resource in the customized or default PRS.

Tommy, Thanks for looking at this ...

Attached is the log: I start Logos 4, with NASB95, select my "Bible English (12P)" PRS, use Right arrow all the way till I come to NCV, hit Right Arrow 3 times (no joy), hit Left Arrow it move back to previous Bible in PRS. After that I hit Ctrl+Right it moves to NCV ... Ctrl+Right again, it moves pass NCV correctly ... I stop Logos. Summary:

Ctrl + Left/Right -> works for NCV
Right -> Does not work for NCV if Column setting is not "NONE", eg. Auto.
Left -> works for NCV

I have tried with Logos Default BIBLE PRS, and my customize "Bible English (12P)" PRS, all navigation is OK, until I come to NCV.

I have tried on 3 systems

Mac 10.7.4 running LM 4c RC1 - the above works with Left/Right Arrow, also notice Cntl+ Left/Right now also works for L4c RC1
Mac 10.7.4, Parallels, Windows 7 (64bit) - running LW 4c RC1 with the issue reported here
Windows 7 (64bit) Acer Desktop - running current stable version - have the same issue above (with a different Logos Account).

Based on feedback from Graham and Todd, looks like it is only me :-(

Regarding the inability to navigate to a parallel resource using the right arrow key: the issue is the book itself. Currently there is a bug in the NCV which causes some of the reference links in the NCV to display too far aligned to the right. You can see in your screenshot, at Matthew 24:2, that the Isaiah reference link at the bottom is causing the scrollbar to appear. My guess is that Graham and Todd are in sections of the book that don't have these reference links and so aren't experiencing the problem.

I have logged a case for this book. In the meantime, for any resource that produces a horizontal scrollbar, you can use the Ctrl+Right Arrow to navigate, as you've already discovered. Thank you.
