Changing the font for Bibles

I don't like much of 4 so far...mostly glitz and glam, and the interface gives me a headache. The goofy font that was chosen for the bible window makes me cross-eyed. How can I change that?

Also, how does a person go about editting posts on this forum? You know, simple stuff like fixing a typo, adding a thought you neglected to include, or deleting a post altogether?

For about a day you can edit them ... look under the 'More" beside the "replay"

May I suggest that if you would like an answer to a query that you not begin by just slamming the program. A simple, "Is it possible to change the default font?" question is more likely to elicit a response.

All the font settings I know about are under Tools>Program settings. You can play around with them there. Since I like all most of the settings I have not needed to change them so I can't tell you what exactly will need to be changed.

Is there something specific you wanted to be able to do but am having trouble doing?

One of the biggest issues/problems I have is that the new program is significantly less easy to read & look at than 3 is. It literally makes me feel like I am losing my sight (everything appears fuzzy and gives me a headache). I open both up, switch between one and the other, and the difference is startling. Which button do I click to fix that?

Also, since I have Portfolio and have 2500 items in my library, I would like to arrange them in folders. How do I do that?

One more thing: why am I only allowed to edit my posts for 24hrs (or whatever the time constraint is?)

This may be an issue with your monitor. Have you tried adjusting the brightness (gamma) and the contrast? Sometimes font 'smoothing' can actually make it worse. I have two monitors on my main (desktop) system and a laptop. Logos4 looks crisp on both my main monitors and on the laptop. (YMMV)

I'm not sure what you're asking for. Are you asking for a library function, a search function, or what? You can create collections that will narrow down your search to specific books. As for a library function to sort books into folders, we haven't had anything like that since the Library browser of version 1 (or did 2 have it too?). There's noting like that in Libronix either. If you want to make a suggestion, the suggestions forum is designed for that. I think it would be cool to have a library shelf sort of thing that would collect books into groups, like in a theological library.

Because for this is an interactive forum, and you've got to stop the changes to posts at some point, else the subsequent discussion starts to look weird, if not become unintelligible. At least we can edit them for a while. In the newsgroups it was not possible at all (nature of the media, not a Logos policy or anything like that).

It appears that fonts in my logos 4 are rendered in such a way that they lack contrast, and make it difficult to read. There are grey pixels on the edge of the text which makes the text look fuzzy, and makes me feel like my eye sight is going.

Even when the font size is increased the grey pixels remain, meaning that even the big fonts appear fuzzy. Changing to a different font does not help!

I use logos 4 on a laptop and desktop (CRT) and it appears the Laptop has more difficulity displaying the font clarly. I have tried enabling and disabling ClearType text and it has no effect on Logos 4. Could it be that Logos 4 has ClearType text disabled which makes the text difficult to read on LCD screens? Any solution would be appreciated.

I am running windows 7 64 bit.

There are some issues that will find improvement with the release of 4.0a. WPF does have it's own display that doesn't seem to make use of ClearType, from what I understand. It's possible that some color, or contrast adjustments on your laptop monitor may help somewhat. This could take a bit of playing with around to fine tune.

In the Beta of 4.0a, there are some other background colors (varying shades of grey for now, and one option for windows default) that do help with the eye-strain issue (IMHO).

Logos CEO Bob Pritchett has explained in another thread (see 2nd page of posts) that the default font is changing in 4.0a because they have a new version of this font now which is supposed to be easier to read. Some people who have been testing out the beta version of 4.0a don't actually like the change to the sharper font. They preferred the softer look of the old one. I've seen screen images and I must say I prefer the old one, too. It's a personal taste thing. It might have to do with how good or bad our near vision is with or without lens correction, however we tend to work at the screen. Bob will try to see if they can include both versions of the font (one with "hinting" and one without) and let people choose.
