How to assign a tool to a panel?

How do you assign a specific tool to a specific panel? For example, I have a four panel layout that I'm using for a certain study. When I open the text comparison tool I want it to open on a certain panel where it has more room to display the verses. However, it always opens in a different panel when I open it. I've dragged it over to the large panel, but it doesn't seem to remember it and assign itself to that panel.

    Hi Samuel

Sorry but I don't believe you can do this.

Being able to control where panes open has been requested by many people but it isn't something which can be done at the moment.

You can't. It's one of the more common complaints here.

    Some workarounds:

    1. Instead of opening first and dragging after you can drag directly from the Tools menu.
    2. Instead of left-clicking to open you can right-click and open in a floating window.
    3. Create a layout that looks like you want, save it and work from that.
    4. For TC you can use F7 instead.
