Library resources open in wrong window

I opened the library in a floating window, searched for a number of resources, then opened them by right clicking on a resource title and selecting "Open in new tab" expecting the resource to open in the same window the library was in, but in a new tab. However L4 plopped the resources into a pane of its choosing in my main window.

One of the frustrating "features" of Logos is having to hunt for a resource I just tried to open among the 4 panels I always have in my main L4 window. I have to play "catch the changed pane". A long time ago I asked for a way to determine which window and panel resources would open into and was hoping that the right-click context menu was going to at least help. I don't mind Logos having a default way of selecting panels, thought I usually don't find it to make sense. I'd just like to have additional control so I don't get distracted from my work.

i agree with your assessment. i have found that drag & drop help me control this from many locations. i can drag a resource in the Library to the tab area to have L4 open that resource where i want it. i can even drag it from a floating window to a new tab position in the main window by moving the dragged item down to Logos's icon in the taskbar and L4 will show the main window and then i can locate the panel where i want the resource to be added.

Also one thing that i wish Logos would do is allow moving of multiple resources (via Shift drag) from the Library. We can move multiple tabs using Shift Drag, but not multiple selected resources from the Library.

P.S. you can even use drag & drop from the Right Click menu.
Drag & drop from any menu or shortcut works too.

Jim ... you don't need the quotes around the word 'feature'.

This took literally years to dream up, and even more years to explain.

I very much doubt there's a single user who disagrees with you (though they might have a higher priority item to 'fix').

I'd even be willing to bet (maybe a glass of water) that the CEO isn't too thrilled with the 'surprise me' feature each time. Presuming he uses Logos4; he might be a Libronix fan like me (where each new resource calmly opens and waits to be placed where I'd like it to be).

Most have resigned to the drag it from the library and put it where it goes approach.

I had forgotten about the drag and drop. That prompted me to test it in a few other situations. I found that I can drag and drop links in the "Cited By" results, but not links that result from a Basic search.

If you click on the highlighted search result, it can be dragged. But not if you click on the section name:

Todd .. you've got to be kidding (but aren't). So this is why expensive training sessions are needed to use the basic features of Logos4. And now Faithlife too.

Well, interesting story. We get our water from the Permian geological layer. In creation days, that would be about early day 4. Phoenix however pulls theirs from our creek ... the winter snow. So it's obvious why our water is so refreshing. And a careful reading about creation day-3 events explains why!
