Do you mind me asking who your rep was? I really have no advice for you because my rep left several months ago and it seemed that none of the others that I tried shortly after seemed to be to interested in me (probably because I only make the occasional purchase that are not pre-pubs) and refused to give any discounts on purchases made through them like my old sales rep did. I decided to just give up and wait on special sales to do most of my buying. My purchases have picked up some and would love to find a rep with a little bit of negotiating power to try and get a sale.

I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I'll chime in on this one. In any business of this nature, there will be sales reps who are more knowledgeable than others. Furthermore, there will be some sales reps who are more knowledgeable in certain fields of study than in others. Plus, there are some who are better at asking the right questions, which will help you to make a good decision about purchases.
I'll add a vote of confidence to Dave Kaplan. I would love to give him more business myself, but if I could bring him another customer, I'm happy to do that too.Great to deal with,[Y]

If one sales rep is "better" or "worse" than another or can give greater discounts than somebody else, I don't know. I find that they are all great but have different personalities. So just talk to a few of them on the phone and select the one you connect well with.
I use Santiago and can confirm that he is a great guy. I assume that I have a larger-than-average library and that this might result in more savings. On the other hand, just recently, Santiago declined a request of mine related to a prepub that I was very interested in but I missed by only two days the announcement of an upcoming price increase (still during the prepub timeperiod).
The conclusion: Never go traveling without constant e-mail access and time to go through your inbox. Or maybe it was just a divine sign to slow down with my Logos purchases as I otherwise would have bought the set in question as well as another related set. [;)]
