Force Quit Logos

Anyone have a clue why I am having to force Quit Logos "after" quitting Logos?

When I quit, my screen fill of logos does go away, but the Icon stays lit, the upper toolbar stays and I have to force quit each time it does so.

In other words: Part of Logos mac is getting hung up on quit.

Thanks

Sorry that we must keep meeting under such circumstances.

I experienced a few of these several versions ago, but have not seen it in 4.5c. You probably have the latest stable version 4.5c SR-2, but I need to ask anyway. Could you post logs the next time you force quit?

Thanks Jack: Severe family emergencies this week have put me way behind, so don't have time for remembering how to do logs right now.

    Yes, everything up to date.

Thought it might be something simple or, something dumb I did ( was really hoping for that).

At any rate, if you think of anything, would appreciated.

Will try to post logs perhaps tomorrow if not at hospital all day after Church.

Blessings and sorry to be such a bother.

I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but when I go to log out, Logos doesn't close until I kill it. It "cancels" the logout.

don't have time for remembering how to do logs right now.

I put LS4J's Logos 4 Mac AppleScript Application on my desktop for enabling logging easily.

Also put Logos Log Scribe there. This little app will collect the logs, and place a compressed archive on your desktop ready to posting. The only problem is that those who run that other OS cannot seem to open the archive [8-|]

Sorry to hear that. Yours or your parishioners?

sorry to be such a bother.

Not a bother. Glad to have an opportunity to attempt assistance.

Sounds like the same thing. See my post above for instructions on creating log files. You then attach them to a post with the small paper clip just to the left of the smilie.

I experience an incomplete quit with a number of programs sometimes. Logos doesn't do it that much anymore. Safari does. You might want to try a little app called FreeMemory which is a freebie on the AppStore. OSX doesn't fully release memory and I think that contributes to such problems.

My dad alerted me to this thread.

It's been a long while since I have updated the Scribe. I haven't even gotten around to testing it with Lion/Mountain Lion and recent versions of Logos. I take it that since you're suggesting it, that it still works?

With regards to the compressed archive, the assumption I made was that the archives would be going to Logos 4 Mac developers running Mac OS and so the compression format didn't matter much so long as the tools were in Mac OS to handle them. If one does want to use the archives on Windows, there is is no need to resort to installing Cygwin or Microsoft's Unix Applications. That's far too much stuff to install and too complicated for most users.

Instead, use something like 7-Zip or Winzip to decompress the archive. I'll look into making the utility spit out Zip files when I get a moment.

No idea, i have used beta and stable. Logos has rarely ever quit properly for me and unlikes others here I usually don;t have to force quit any other program with any regularity. In the past month i once had to force quite firefox, once Mail and i have needed to force iTunes to quit in the past 2 months anyway. I have just come to feel it is the price of using LOGOS...

This is an ongoing for me -super frustrated. Anyone here have this resolved.

Logos has the distinction of being the ONLY app I have to regularly force quit. It's a pain and a shame. So good otherwise.

Welcome to the forums Bill! Sorry you are having troubles. [:s]

I know that some users have more trouble with this than others. I normally do not have a problem. Do you leave Logos running when your computer "sleeps"? Is this a laptop or desktop?

Also, is there a reason you haven't migrated to the free L5 engine? It is recommended for all users, as long as your system requirements are adequate. See the link in my signature line.

Since the latest update I am having problems with Logos closing on my iMac. It hangs on syncing. I use the iMac (latest operating system) at home and Windows in my study. The work I do at home is not showing up in my study the way it always has in the past. I have tried restarting my iMac opening Logos and after it is fully loaded shutting down and it still hangs on syncing. I have left it for hours thinking it might just need time. It still hangs. I have tried with no other programs running. It still hangs. I need this fixed to be able to efficiently study. What gives?

Sorry John that no one responded. Are you using L5? If not, you should be. Please download the newest L5 engine (see the link in my signature line) and create a new thread in the L5 forum. (This forum is for L4, which is old software no longer in development).
