I have noticed that Mac4Indexer runs even when Logos 4 Mac is not running and hogs substantial CPU time well over 60% is this normal, is anyone else experiencing this.
Did you only install recently? Which Alpha version are you running and on which OSX version? The indexer can take a ridiculously long time, especially if you have one of the larger libraries. If this is a recent install, you might have a few days by some reports before the indexer finishes. Once that initial indexing is done, the process is much quicker as updates and new resources are added.
Vincent, yes this is the design of the software so it can continue to index even when the program itself is shut down.
Indexing does require a lot of resources to run because it has not been optimized for the Mac yet. That will come later in the development cycle.
Yes it is a recent install . . . . on OS X Snow Leopard . . . . Alpha 3 . . . . Yes I do have over 2000 resources . . . . It seems to start everytime I start the computer on the Mac side . . . I just wanted to make sure this is normal
Thanks
I just want to make sure this is normal . . . and also be sure I am not messing things up if I stop the process?
Vicent,
Please try with Alpha 5. It should only run once to completion, but there were problems with previous alphas that consumed more memory than necessary. Alpha 5 should also greatly speed up indexing. In house tests show about a 2.5x to 3x speed improvement.
