Note Files

Have recently installed Logos 3g unto new laptop with windows 7. Working fine except I cannot get my notefiles to open. Windows XP crashed on my previous laptop but I had everything backed up and have all files and folders transferred to appropriate locations and my annotations are there but Logos 3 will not access them and 'Import note files' comes up 'No items match your search'.

To double-check the location you put the note files it should be (in Win 7): C:\Users\[NAME]\Documents\Libronix DLS\Annotations. Notice the space between "Libronix" and "DLS." Also the name "Annotations" is plural.

If this seems to be correct and it still doesn't work try creating a test note in Libronix attached to any verse in any Bible. Give it a unique name that you can easily find (like "QQQTest"), type in any text you want (like "This is a test of the note file system") and save it. Does Libronix allow the creation of the note? Does a note icon appear in your Bible? Can you open the note file from the note icon?

If that seemed to work. Restart Libronix and ensure that the note icon still appears and that you can still open the note file.

If that seemed to work, open Windows Explorer (WinKey+E), open "Documents" and look for Libronix DLS. Does there seem to be two directories with that name (if so you'll need to look through both)?. Under Libronix DLS should be another directory called "Annotations" (if there's more than one, look in both). Assuming that's there, does QQQTest (or whatever you named it) appear in the file list? If somewhere along the line there were duplicate directory names, move your existing note files to the directory with QQQTest in it, then reopen Libronix and check if they now appear.

If none of that works, check back and report on what you did, and what did/didn't work, and we'll see if something else is going on here.

I managed to do this once, long ago, but no longer have the exact steps. Here are my memories, which might get you started in the right direction.

Copy your Annotations folder to a safe place (ie: *.ZIP).
Launch Logos3 and create a junk note (ie: At Rev 22:21, "Amen")
Close Logos 3.
Copy your real Annotations file into the place of the junk one.
Launch Logos3 and trick it into indexing your notes.

There are probably missing steps, but perhaps others will chime in to correct me.

Jack's solution is a good one, especially for any similar problem like this.

For anyone 'passing through' later, remember you can check Libronix3's resource path(s) in TOOLS > OPTIONS> GENERAL > RESOURCE PATHS

If your Libronix isn't finding your resources, it's easiest to check this path. And if correct but still not finding the resources, click on the 'Refresh Resources' button below the 'paths' and restart Libronix. It will re-read the resources from that path.

And if Libronix can't find your notes, highlighting and so forth, Libronix3 allows checking that path too (but you need the 'Power Tools'):
TOOLS > OPTIONS > POWER TOOLS > USER FILES

Changing the user-files path is sometimes useful if you have several implementations of Libronix on your PC.

But on this specific thread the above solutions will likely work nicely.

Many thanks for your help - Note files and Daily Bible Readings are all now opening.

When I created a new note file, as suggested, it was saved under the main folder 'Libronix DLS' in a new 'Annotations' subfolder. The 'Libronix DLS' folder from my backup with all its sub folders which I had placed in the correct location was now a subfolder of the new 'Libronix DLS' but still not being opened by Logos 3. I then moved my saved 'Annotations' to the new 'Annotations' folder which merged and there were my note files in Logos 3! I then did the same for the Daily Bible Readings.

Thanks Jack for the help on this. It tricked the annotation file to pick up the old ones. This is after updating Libronnix 3 until there were no updates at all. Thanks for the troublshooting idea.
