Bought my first LOGOS software.

I bought the big package in hopes that I'll have everything and more to use! I've been contemplating on taking bible classes at Moody, but I think I'd much rather get this software and do a self study and allow God to take me where He wants.

Anyway, this thing is massive and I did play around with it, watched some tutorials from this site, read posts on this forums, etc.

Just wanted to share with you my new purchase!!! Smile

You will enjoy Logos. Check out the free tutorials at www.logos4training.com (they are very good, just note that notes and highlighting have changed) but otherwise the videos should give you a good start!

In basic terms, it's remembering where just about every significant word is in your library. That in itself isn't that time consuming; it's the cross-linking and storing for later retrieval that takes up time.

Most people see the most visual benefit in the searches. For me, it's SERIOUSLY GREAT when you right-click over a word, no matter 'what', and it knows where in your library it's all found AND how to specifically display it (maps, people, hebrew/greek, etc). I REALLY like that part; often I just can't believe it.

In addition to the videos, be sure to check out the Wiki since it can answer a lot of your questions. For now you may want to look at the section called "Getting Started with Logos" (second bullet-point from the top).

If you have a question and can't seem to find your answer there, or that answer doesn't seem to work for you, feel free to ask. There are a lot of folks who are eager to help new folks like you get going.

There are a lot of resources in Platinum so it may take a while to download them all and complete the indexing.

I'll first join the others in welcoming you. If you note the warning displayed when indexing, you will note that your searches may not be accurate during the process. If, however, you are talking about simply not being able to open more than 3 resources while it is indexing, I think you might have a problem. You'll know as soon as indexing is complete.
