Loading Children's Sermons and Worship Liturgy in PBB

Hello all,

In order to consolidate my worship planning each week, I have been diligently making .DOCX files of my many books of children's sermons and liturgical prayers. Following the wiki, I've added appropriate heading styles to make TOC, verified the scripture references and then pondered how to include them with best success of finding what I need from a passage guide search or topic search in Logos.

Example: I have children's sermon on Matthew 3:13-17, it could also be used for Mark 1:4-11 or Luke 3:21–22 or
John 1:29–34. It is for the liturgical calendar "Baptism of the Lord" or "First Sunday After the Epiphany" in Years A, B, or C in the revised common lectionary. It could also have a topical heading of "Baptism" or "Holy Spirit"

Questions:

1. What milestones should I use? Do I have to choose between Bible milestones [[@Bible:Matthew 3:13=17]] and topics [[@Headword:Baptism]]? Can I use both? Or four Bible and two headwords in this case? Do I add Lectionary dates to this for the next 10 years?

2. What resource type do I load it with? Bible Commentary, Bible Notes, Commentary, Dictionary, Encyclopedia, Lexicon, Lectionary, or Monograph?

3. How do I find this again in Logos? Can I use the passage guide for Matt. 3:13-17 and it will come up? Can I do a topic search on Baptism? Can I pull it up from the RCL? (I think the answer to this last one is no!)

This seems to be the same kind of general problem anyone would have loading sermons using PBB.

yes you can. But the Bible will link automatically for searching even if you don't use a milestone

Do I add Lectionary dates to this for the next 10 years?

I'd use the liturgical date rather than the secular calendar date. In fact, I'd put a link to the RCL index version (undated version towards the end of the lectionary) as my first line in the document.

What resource type do I load it with?

Monograph is best as it doesn't have the features that distinguish the others.

Can I use the passage guide for Matt. 3:13-17 and it will come up?

Yes

Can I do a topic search on Baptism?

Yes

Can I pull it up from the RCL?

Nope - at the moment the way lectionaries are built doesn't make this practical - each date is it's own entry. A note on the generic (undated) entry would neverr show.

I did have another question. Our denominational constitutional documents use paragraph numbers that are referenced both internally in each book and externally in other resources. Is there a way to setup a milestone on each paragraph with the proper document's paragraph number? For instance, we have a daily lectionary that references both scripture and paragraphs or questions from the book of confessions. I've done the work of converting all these books into Word files, but can't figure out how to load with the references.

There may be a better way to do it, but I would treat the paragraph numbers as if they were pages i.e. build the milestone [[@Page:513]] for each of them. Then to discover the format for the link, I would right click in the compiled document and select URL for the milestone.

I haven't actually tried this because I haven't checked how stable the PB identifier is when recompiled. I've been waiting for the PB to sync across machines.
