Notes and Highlighting

Hi,

I have highlighted, by underlining, several passages in a book and then added content to a note file created for that book so that in a years time I will remember why I underlined the section. I can see how to get from the note file back to the passage in the book, but I can't see how I can get from the underlined passage in the book to the relevant note. Can anyone help, please?

At this point, underlines & highlights will not open up the note file for you. The use of a note indicator, however, will allow you to click to open the note file.

Thank you. This has saved me a lot of time trying to do the impossible.

I must be missing something. I can't see the point of highlight notes if you can't easily navigate from the text to the note.

Most users probably just use highlighting as, well, highlighting. In which case there isn't a need to get back to a note file.

Yep (I'm such a user). I have all my highlights in one file, and I don't need to explain the highlights to myself yet - if so, I'd use a note, although the available indicators are ugly and much too big.

But Logos' new philosophy is "a highlight is a note", thus they should have thought about how to find a note without a note indicator. Seems in the right-click menu where is says "remove annotations" there should be a line "go to annotation(s)".

I can't quite see the point of having a highlighting note without a note icon. Without the icon you a) can't see the note next in a popup, and b) don't even know if you have any note text to that highlight. Seems to me you'd waste a lot of time going to the note file just to find you don't have anything written there. To me icon = there is a note (which I can then see by hovering, and get to by clicking), and no icon = there isn't any note, just a highlight (and therefore normally no need whatsoever to locate it in a note file).

But we all work differently.[:)]

I agree with this. It is a logical way to work. I don't understand why Logos has made the hightlighter=note identification, filling the already congested file menu with files of empty hightlighter notes.

If you are "filling the already congested file menu with files of empty highlighter notes," you need to change the way you highlight. Logos gives you plenty of flexibility in this regard. Just change it so that ALL highlights go to the same file.
