iOS: Logos app versus Faithlife app: which one should I use?

I'm a longtime Logos user but fairly recent to the iOS world. I've had the Logos app for a year or so, but recently downloaded the Faithlife app. Faithlife appears to be a lot more like the Windows Logos 4 I have and I like it better. Faithlife and Logos do not share the same resources on my iPad drive and both consume a lot of space, however, Logos is consuming 5.9 GB of my flash drive while Faithlife is only consuming 4.9 GB. Logos has 631 books listed (I own over 1,000 Logos books) and Faithlife has 605 books listed so this appears to be the difference. Since my flashdrive is limited, I wish to delete one of the apps to free up space since they are mostly redundant. My questions are:

1) Are there any advantages of the Logos iOS app over the Faithlife app?

2) Why does Faithlife not list as many books as Logos?

3) Will Faithlife be replacing Logos?

Ok.... I did find the answers to a couple questions....

1) Advantages: Logos has the "passage guide", "Bible words Study", and "Text Comparison", while Faithlife has a nicer user interface and the Faithlife Study Bible resources.

2) Faithlife includes only those books that are available on iOS that I have PURCHASED, while Logos has extra books that I have not purchased that I can read online only (in my case those 26 books that are missing on Faithlife).

I think I'm going to keep Faithlife and simply delete the resources

I am writing on my phone, so I'm going to keep this short. The Faithlife style is coming to the Logos app in version 3, which has already been submitted to Apple. Faithlife has several LARGE resources which are not optional. If you don't want those resources on mobile, your best bet would be to stick with the Logos app.

Thanks Alabama! I'm curious- do you know why Logos created a separate app rather than just integrating Faithlife into the Logos app? All the books published in iOS format are downloadable in Faithlife. I like the Faithlife resources, but since iOS is not a "true" multi-tasking platform by the PC definition (i.e. can't split the window and work between both apps at the same time), myself (and probably many others) would prefer to have on app as in the PC version of Logos....

Actually, there are three apps (Logos, Vyrso, Faithlife). Each has its own purpose and demographic, some of which overlaps of course. The Logos app features some tools which are more scholarly and require a base package (such as Word Studies). It would be frustrating to users to have those tools and 1) not know how to use them and/or 2) not have access to them. The Faithlife App is designed for a larger demographic. It is designed to be used in a real life community (i.e. Sunday School, Small Group, etc). It also includes access to the faithlife group forums from within the app directly. At this point, Logos intends to make it a subscription fee and to have ongoing updates to both the software and Faithlife branded resources included in that cost. Vyrso is a stripped down ebook reader without the study or faithlife tools.

I would recommend that you choose one app (in your case the Logos app), and download the resources you want offline to it. You could also download the Vyrso app, which would allow you to have up to four books open at a time (2 in Logos, 2 in Vyrso) and switch back & forth with the multitask bar (or four finger swipe, if applicable). Downloading the faithlife app would take up much more room than the Vyrso app since the faithlife resources are downloaded automatically and are quite large.

I see... Thanks! I do look forward to the new Logos app. I've been using PocketBible on my mobile (Palm, now iOS) because Logos hasn't given much attention to mobile platforms until now....

I use all three of them: Logos for serious study, Faithlife for "lighter" study, Vyrso for book reading. Works great for me. This allows me to have 3 "layouts" as we are used to from the PC version. I hope Logos continues developing these 3 apps.

Does anybody have any info on when this will be available? I would love the cleaner UI of the Faithlife app when using the Logos app. I still use it for original language study on my iPad.

Sorry, no. Sometimes the app has to get bounced back & forth between Apple & the developers before Apple finally approves it.

Here's my take on which to use and why:

Vyrso for those who only want to read books and little more. It does offer a little more, but is basically the Kindle app from Logos.

Faithlife for those who want a good study bible and like the Faithlife Study Bible content and want the community.

Logos for more advanced Bible students and people like me who just don't want to learn a new app interface.

I use two of the three apps. I use the Logos app when I want to check the parsing and consult my lexicons (I use the Bible Word Study feature). I also use the Faithlife Study Bible app, I love the study Bible and the social features. Faithlife itself really looks promising. I don't really have a specific need for the Vyrso app.
