L4 in German

I noticed over the weekend that L4 is not capable of running in German! (If I remember correctly, Libronix was able to to do so). No wonder hardly any of my friends every heard of Logos...

So, my questions is: What would it take to get L4 translated? Since I am a software engineer myself, I would be quite happy to offer my technical and language skills. Is Logos willing to collaborate on such a translation? I think it would an important step to tap into the German market (or rather, continue tapping into the Germany market, given the demise of SESB)...

Any takers?

You are right. L4 runs in English, Swedish, Spanish (and Brazilian Portuguese, if I'm not mistaken). CEO Bob Pritchett once stated his intent to have Logos running in German, actually I remember a post where German was high on the list of languages that should receive a native language user interface.

    yep

We can only speculate about what it takes, how far Logos are and whether they want or need external support.

In terms of offering help in setting up or proof-reading translated text tables, alpha- and beta-test a German UI etc. I think there are a number of users who expressed their desire to help (I perceive myself standing in line directly behind Theolobias or so).

However, looking at the market, a German UI will run only as far as German language resources go....

Have joy in the Lord! Smile

Sounds like a classic catch-22 to me... there are not going to be resources unless the UI is there, and there is not going to be a UI until/unless there are plenty of resources available...

I would love to publish German resources for L4, but the current state of affairs is pathetic, to say the least.
