Two Questions about Ancient Christian Commentary - ACCS

1.  What is the linking like?  For example, for each section that quotes a particular church father, will it then link to the appropriate place in the Early Church Fathers so that I can read the full quote in context?

2.  Is it available for viewing on IOS?  Since Logos no longer lists it, I can't readily find out.

Thanks!

I will answer your second question, Yes, you can access the ACCS on the IOS platform.

Quotes are linked. Not all of the referenced church fathers have Logos resources to link to.

Plus remember it's a 'commentary'. Not a verse-arranged dictionary of patristic usage of the OT/NT. That means the (IVP) editors selectively chose what they thought were good 'ancient' commentary to the associated verse across a very long time period.

I have this one, but I also loaded a patristic direct-quote/reference resource into my other Bible software and thense into Logos4 PBs. I got it so far back, I didn't keep track of its source to either judge its public-domain-ishness or at least give credit.

In mine, I also sort the quotes/references by the time-period/geography of the writer so I can see any trends as well.

What you are doing sounds very interesting.  What is the name of this resource and is it available in Logos?

I suspect there are many here who would be interested in that resource if you're willing and able to share. Would you mind doing a simple google search for a quote or two? Perhaps you get a hit in CCEL or something like that, which would reveal if it's PD or not.

Ron ... as fgh notes, it was an internet download which I parsed into a database before feeding my various Bible software packages.

fgh ... I'll look ... it was one of those sites that initially looks rough and tumble but it turned out pretty good.

I'd also mention (this IS my opinion; fair warning) ... but hooking a Cited-By tool onto 'Early Church Fathers' (tagged or collection) is FAR better than either ACC or the roll-your-own variety. I don't know the back ground on the editors of ECF, but they did a pretty decent job on footnoting the OT/NT connections. The downside is that it's hard from the Cited-By to immediately see the author etc. without popping the resource open.

Found it and indeed copyrighted though a CD is available for personal use of the file.

    http://www.textexcavation.com/documents/html/ecatena.html

I don't know how these two sites are related; obviously one is easier than the other. My personal use probably goes back a decade or so? In any event it'd make a nice Logos resource though it's citings are very loose. Note that the cross-references sit in the html text to the ANF.

The funny part is how to search for the text file: '"And vet He loved even those who hated Him and wept over the unbelieving"' Notice the misspelling, which each site happily maintained.
