More Crashing more books on IPhone and IPad
I thought this problem was just a problem with my Psalms WBC commentray. So I switched to Ecclesiastes WBC, read for 20-30 pages and now it cannot turn pages and crashes on my IPhone!!. And I can't even get the app to open on my IPad!!! I am getting very frustrated with this very high cost Logos system. I rely on it all the time and now I can't make any progress.
Don't the software people at Logos check out compatibility with these books before releasing the updates? WBC isn't exactly an odd commentary written a hundred years ago. What is going on?
I have a Kindle that I update periodically that deals with even more books than logos and I have never had any problems with that.
I want to spend my time in Bible study and message preparation. If I wanted to be a software engineer I would have done that. Please what can I do to get it to work with my books. I really need it to just work. At the price I have paid, it ought to work all the time.

Hi Stephen - I have just opened and successfully flicked through quite a few pages of both these books on both my iPhone 4S and iPad 2. Have you downloaded these books, or are you accessing them over wifi/3G? I usually download books I am studying or use on a regular basis so that I can access them regardless of whether I have a decent Internet connection or not.

Stephen - Sorry you are having troubles.[:S]

Logos resources are much more complex than a simple eBook.

Logos has THOUSANDS of resources. Of course they don't check out compatibility with every resource! The Psalms WBC issue has been solved and the fix is in the RC1 stage. I don't have any inside info, but I expect that if the app hasn't been submitted to Apple yet, that it will in the very near future. Approval could be hours or days. Unfortunately, I assume that there are MANY companies trying to submit new apps with the new iPhone coming out tomorrow.
And I can't even get the app to open on my IPad!!!
If you aren't worried about redownloading resources, I would delete the app and see what happens with a new install. I can't remember off the top of my head what happens when you open a redownloaded app… hopefully it will open to the library and not to the troubled resource.

Hi Steve,
The above WBC volumes issue is related to certain unicode characters and was fixed a couple of weeks ago. The new release was submitted to the Apple store with an expedited review request and I hope it will be available this week (but we don't decide that - Apple does).
I am getting very frustrated with this very high cost Logos system. I rely on it all the time and now I can't make any progress.
The iOS apps are free and are not nearly as mature as Logos on the Desktop, and neither are they intended to replace Logos Desktop. However, as I mentioned above the WBC (and many other resources) will work properly in the new release.

This issue isn't when the resources are released or how new or old they are, but what unicode characters they attempt to render. For example, coptic resources have never worked but they do now (in 3.0.2 RC1) as a result of code improvements - but those improvements resulted in other font rendering and fallback issues which is what you experienced with the WBC resources.
I have a Kindle that I update periodically that deals with even more books than logos and I have never had any problems with that.
Again, it's not the number of books but what the unicode characters each book attempts to render. Logos on iOS can easily deal with nearly all of the available 29,500+ Logos resources, but there are still a few issues we are working out considering we have to support nearly forty languages in our various resources.

I apologize for the inconvenience - I completely understand and we really appreciate your business and hope you still find Logos on iOS useful in the new release. I will make an announcement on this forum when 3.0.2 RC1 is available from the Apple Store. Until then, I hope Logos on the Desktop can be used for your message preparation and study.
thanks,
