Syntax Searching for Dummies
Apparently that includes me. I have never yet managed to complete a successful syntax search though I don't have time to mess around with it much. It should include searching in both Greek and Hebrew.

I hate to admit it but searching the morph-tag patterns as a stand-in for syntax is far easier. The computer can deduce the syntax from the morph combinations (which also allows syntax'ing resources that only have morph-tags).
And as usual Libronix along with the videos for syntax searching 'wins again'!

I actually used the Logos 3 videos originally to learn how to use Logos 4 syntax searching, it really isn't that hard as the terminology is mostly the same.
As for doing syntax searching in Logos 3 vs. Logos 4, there is no comparison. If you have ever done any substantial work with both, Logos 4 syntax searching is light-years easier to use.
As for morph vs. syntax, some of the videos will explain much more clearly than I could how using a morph search when syntax search is what is called for does a complete butcher job on your results. It's like using a hammer no matter what the job. The first step is watching the videos to understand when to use each, that will make the learning curve much easier to climb.

Keep in mind I was talking about a 'morph-pattern search' ... typically the pattern string is 25 words long stripped of definitional attributes and then weighted by their inter-relationships. Logos doesn't do this.

Not only that I'd like to see a Logos manual for dummies or idiots, yellow or orange book, they're both good. I'm very serious. Not that I need it. I've got this friend...[;)]

Good question Donnie. They used to be on Logos.com for about $5 plus shipping. A VERY good deal since they're quite professional.
Funny experience: I went to search for 'videos' on Logos.com. I ran into Sentence Diagramming for Libronix. It was inexpensive and it's useful even without sentences to diagram. Plus Logos had provided helpful advice just for me!

So I added it to my cart, checked out, and got ready for the download! Except the the download was for Logos4. So I'll dutifully call Bellingham and get a refund. I'm actually not unhappy because I wanted to return another purchase from a week or so ago but was 50/50 on that, so this will make the whole experience a profitable one for me.
But being the automated person I am, I can not fathom how Logos.com can not coordinate it's products relative to platform and version. I can't wait to hear all the people complaining about products not working on XP but allowing purchase.
