Community Pricing Title Retraction?

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know at what point an item gets killed and taken off the community pricing list? I'm a litte worried about one item in particular (the old NT commentary by Doddridge) and am considering buying the print form if it never takes in Logos. Any ideas? At the current rate (about 10% in the last 4 months) it looks like it could be 4 years before production would begin on it. That seems like a long time, but then again I'm pretty new to Logos.

If Barnes could make it so can Doddridge.

The real answer is that it cost's Logos nothing to keep a title in CP. I would anticipate it staying there until it either passes or the file server implodes.

Some community pricing titles have been up for years (literally) before enough bids were placed. Barne's notes is one that comes to mind. It is really hard to predict some titles because we just don't know if there will be a sudden surge of interest or just the opposite.

When I had to choose in Wikipedia 'which Doddridge', I'd have never guessed the 'nonconformist'. Who'd of thought.

Maybe you can get the Logos friendly blogger to reserve a spot for Doddrige. There's sure a lot of material for a blog article.

Also, in the past, people have promoted the titles that they would like to see published by describing why others should put a bid.

General topics would be:

Who the author(s) are
The authors views theologically
Why others should bid for this particular work

Some have been very successful of convincing others to place a bid for authors that they had never considered before.

I posted this comment on Doddridge a while back if anyone is interested to learn more about his stuff: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/49790.aspx. I've never seen a CP item get pulled, so that makes sense. I might just buy the print copy anyway... 4 years is a long wait.

The Oxford Latin Dictionary got pulled at the last minute due to a licensing issue (new guy at Oxford feeling his oats.)

We also lost the Samaritan Pentateuch for lack of interest, if I am not mistaken.

Weren't those prepubs rather than CP? The Coptic Dictionary also got pulled.

OLD was a Pre-Pub on the eve of shipping. I thought SP was just a Community Pricing but you probably remember better, being younger and such.

The Coptic Dictionary also got pulled.

That was another I had disappear. Now we have to make do with the Concise Coptic English Dictionary. Bummer.

I'm going from memory (which is also going), but I think it was a publisher issue that caused the Samaritan Pentateuch to be pulled.
