Data Type Kelinking - Missing?

Has anyone noticed that you cannot specify Data Type resources to be Keylinked as with L3? In L3 you were able to select a Data Type (Strong's Greek # for example) and move your specified resources up in a list so that when you see a Strong's Greek # and Double-Click it, all those specified resources in the list you made will open. It was BRILLIANT! It also removed the hassle of not knowing what resource would fit the Data Type, since they were all grouped accordingly and just needed to be added to your list.

It seems that everything is restricted to Collections making in L4. However, Double-Clicking a word in L4 doesn't work. But if you open a resource and Right-Click a word, all that tedious work you did to create Collections from scratch don't show. You must remember to open a separate Search Tab and type the Data and then choose a Collection form a potentially LONG list. So the Automated simplicity is GONE. That is Very annoying. What a Hassle to have to scroll down a potentially LONG list of Collections while trying to remember which Collection you made is for what Data Type Search. So many Search types are also gone...COME ON! I could search many Data Types in an INSTANT in L3 while being half asleep. Nothing is better about this change. It is FAR WORSE. Bring back the Automated Double-Click Data Type Keylinking!!! Or create a separate Collection List that is Automated for a specified Data Type Keylinking. So far. L4 is virtually useless for serious research efforts. One has to revert to L3 for this.

We all noticed this but were told to Prioritize resources according to type in Library. See http://wiki.logos.com/A_Sample_Prioritize_List

I'm not sure what you mean by this last paragraph. Does Prioritize solve it?

This is a perfect example of the kind of tradoffs the Logos designers have to make. I personally find the Logos 4 method requires a single setup to match how I want to see my information, then everything becomes quick and automatic. If I don't get what I want for a particular task, I may add a collection or a mytag and I'm back in business. It is clear that you are more comfortable with the way Logos 3 worked. Whether this is because of familarity or how your brain works, I don't know. But I do know that we don't want to demand so many options that maintaining the software becomes a nightmare and that most of us have no idea why Logos chose the tradeoff they did. When the product is more mature, some of these design decisions make become clear.

It has noting to do with "how my brain works" I don't know what type of searches you do, but I have a question concernng just one type of basic Search:

Q: Can you illustrate how to quickly Open Strong's Hebrew # (175 for example) by using that Number when found in a resource other than a Lexicon etc? How do you OPEN 5 or more Predefined resources TO that Entry? (I don't mean show a List of where in resources that entry is merely cited). I see no way of how to do this any longer.

A My Tag or Prioritization method does not work to my knowledge. L4 does not even Open resources to that Entry.

You see, L3's Data Type Keylinking OPENS the resources to the Entry, whether it be a Strong's # or Topic etc.

The new system is very powerful, it just works slightly differently [:)]

Instead of double-clicking for a keylink; Right-click and choose what you want to do -it gives you the ability to interact with the text at several different levels, it even remembers what you selected last time... In your case, click on "Strong's" and the left list populated with your top 5 lexica that are indexed by Strong's number; clicking on any of them will open to the right place.

I sure hope everyone has at least figured out the righ-click option. That still does NOT replace what I've explained. It would help if your Collections were in that list. But as you can see, they are not. That is a problem in itself. This option only lets you select ONE resource at a time from the list. I need to see and OPEN 5 or more references at once as I've explained L3 does. So that makes it LESS powerful. Unless clicking back and forth in a list that is not even exhaustive is deemd "more powerful".

Open a power lookup tab, then when you right click on a word you can choose power lookup from the right click menu and all the sources appear to be used.

I know I had played with the Power Lookup before, but at the time I obviously had overlooked testing a Strong's Hebrew word / #. THANKS for truly comprehending the issue, Frank! It should be noted that L4 doesn't open all the Data Type resources individually like L3, but it gives a fair 5 Line view. But I think that is a fair trade off, since we all know it does Searches much FASTER than L3.

If they can just replace the missing Search Dialog box in the NASB Concrodance my life wth Logos 4 would be much easier until all the other fixes...

One other note is that it appears that Power Lookup automatically populates all known Data Types for Keylinking, but has no way of Customizing the Data Types in the List as L3. This is not a problem for me with a Strong's Hebrew word / # Data Type, but it could easily become a major problem with other Data Types that have HUNDREDS of Resources (many of which would not be wanted in a Search).
