It's coming...

The Logos 5 beta is coming soon!
NOTE: Logos 5 installs "in-place" over top of your Logos 4 install. You can sync with other devices running Logos 4, so you can run 5 on one machine (or Windows user account) and 4 on another, but you will not be able to run 4 and 5 side-by-side on the same machine.
Logos 5 is not a completely new platform; it's built off Logos 4 and simply adds new features and lots of new data sets, so its core functionality should be more stable during the beta, though styling, behavior, and other things will still be changing.
We recommend you run betas only on systems where you can tolerate having some feature (or the app) "broken" for up to a week.

Soon? I've been waiting since noon ... and bought an extra 5 pounds of coffee.[C] To put it as my mother would "your soon or my soon?"[;)] Okay, I'll be patient and get some test plans ready. Thanks for the screen shots.

This looks great Bob.
Frankly, I am glad it isn't time for a complete rebuild at this point.

Because it has Prerequisites that impact Logos4?
Will it require .NET 4.5?

I believe I read a post from (Bradley?) The other day indicating that 4.5 is a must. I think it is related to the XP thread.

<my wife on Christmas morning>: Fred why did you get me a new computer for Christmas? There is nothing wrong with the old one, it works fine for me.
<me>: if you like the old one I'll go ahead and use the new one.[6]

Because it's designed as an in-place upgrade to Logos 4 (that reuses your existing books, index, etc.), just as Logos 4.6 upgrades Logos 4.5 in-place.
It will require .NET 4.5 (which requires Vista SP2, Windows 7 SP1, or higher).

This is beginning to look a lot like a Windows upgrade. What is in this for Mac users?

So you can run Logos4 and Logos 5 on the same machine - as long as they are in different user accounts!?

Yes, just like existing 4.x betas.
Edit: Just add "(or Windows user account)" to Bob's original post wherever you see "same machine".

All the same changes and new features. (On Windows, .NET is provided by Microsoft and is installed separately. On Mac, we bundle mono—the open source equivalent—as part of Logos 5; it's not a separate install.)
