Default document for highlighting on iPad

Is there a way to set the default Document for highlighting?  

Depending on what I am reading, I want to set the default Document accordingly.  It seems that my default is "Highlighter Pens"

Hi Tommy

Under "Settings" you can choose either the most recent notes document or to use palette-specific notes document.

Does this give you what you need?
