Russell Fuller's Elementary Hebrew Grammar and Workbook

Would anyone else like to have this on Libronix?

I know it would be helpful for my students and for teaching my Hebrew classes! His is a purely deductive approach and it is a purely introductory grammar designed for first year students. I have used it with great success in my Hebrew classes for many years now.

He is also about to come out with a Hebrew Syntax which would also be a great help in Logos.

I have an army of Hebrew grammars here and I've never run across this one. I'd like to take a gander at it.

I have no idea how many Hebrew grammars that Logos turns over in sales. I'd hope that they'd be big sellers, but sometimes I wonder.

Sign me up then. I love my Hebrew and Septuagint Greek resources. I want that Göttingen Septuagint that Logos is looking to give away. The pre-pub price on that is real good.

My recollection is that it's cheaper than the print edition, but I had to look at "My Prepubs" to see how much I had committed myself to. $300.00 ain't chicken feed -- or should I say there isn't much left to feed the chickens afterward.

Oh, c'mon now. That's the 2nd or 3rd time you've disparaged commentaries. While I would certainly encourage anyone with even slight claims to scholarship to do their own work on the texts, commentaries are very useful beasties. Sometimes the point you to items you might have completely overlooked (I'm of course, speaking of scholarly commentaries). It's also good to check your work against what others have said. If you are completely out of line with what others have concluded on a passage, it's very possible you're wrong. That isn't always the case since I've been working on the Apocalypse for some time (I think only someone familiar with the OT and Apocryphal literature can hope to make sense of it). My views on it are different from almost anyone you might name, but I think I'm right (But check Augustine's City of God for something along the same line).

There are the ICC commentaries, the Anchor Bible Commentaries (You really should look at Dahood's work on the Psalms and the way he uses Ugaritic to clarify some difficult points though he sometimes goes a bit overboard), Word Biblical Commentaries and, in the NT exclusively the New International Greek Testament Commentaries.

Ok, I'll keep a ~somewhat~ open mind on this. Some help in the original languages is always good. People that prepare sermons for their flock from commentaries without doing their homework is pretty much what set me against commentaries to start with. You might as well prepare your work by reading it off the back of a cereal box. Commentaries with a good base in the original languages wouldn't seem to be too repulsive.

I'm not yet of the mind to buy one though.

Ok, another good point. I'm not in school but I'll take a look at the commentaries that I have already in Logos to see if any of them have any substance to them. They have been blacklisted for so many years now I couldn't begin to guess even which ones I have. Let me go look....

I'm not familiar with the Jerome Biblical Commentary. I think the one on the Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha might be a part of Charles' Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha. Metzger's Textual Commentary is precisely what it says -- it's useful for textual criticism. Matthew Henry makes nice reading since the man truly had a heart, but don't try to make it into a scholarly commentary (for one thing, it's much too old).

The ICC looked interesting and then I saw the price. -ouch-

I then found that it's out of copyright and you can snag the whole set for free. I'll grab these and take a look and see if this commentary has any merit in the way I do my studies.
