Not sure what the purpose of this feature is?

From the release notes:

"Mobile Download management: Manage resource download to mobile apps using the info pane in the library and resource panels. You must be signed into the mobile app with the same login information as your Logos Desktop application in order for the device to show in Logos. In order to prompt immediate download, you may need to restart your mobile app."

I see how it works. I'm just not certain of the value. It is easy to download resources directly from my iPad app without this feature

As for a 7" Android Tablet, it is much easier to view the library from the desktop rather than the tablet. The iPad (as I see) is larger and the User Interface is somewhat different.

But is it easy to manage the downloads… The answer is no. I have not downloaded the new version so I can't comment on its implementation. Can you select a collection for download, for example?

I'm more concerned about selecting books to un- download. I am one of the beta crash victims so I can't test it but I'm hoping you can select a collection and delete those resources from your mobile device.

I'm more concerned about selecting books to un- download. I am one of the beta crash victims so I can't test it but I'm hoping you can select a collection and delete those resources from your mobile device.

I just tested for un-downloading books. It's a one way ticket. Once downloaded, the only way to remove is to do so on the device. Also, there is no function to download a collection. I guess this is a start. [:)]

BTW: I'm using the Windows and Android apps. Not sure how this functions on a Mac or iPad.

I am seeing the same thing. It appears to be resource specific (no collections, series, etc.) and one way (from pc to mobile).

Interesting. I have been downloading my entire collection to my IPad over the last couple of days. the resources have different info icons on the following two screens. The books are actually loaded on the IPad so the second image is correct. I just playing around with the mobile download management on my PC.

I tried to remove semeia from my PC and keep everything else. Semeia shows up as loaded and everything else as un-loaded.

I put my IPad into airplane mode and restarted logos. Seems I have no books on my IPad after all. When I opened Logos I got a popup error message for each of the resources I was downloading (over 1000!). Think I'm gonna uninstall and re-install Logos now :-)

Apparently the books were on there. IOS said Logos was over 3 gigs. Deleting the Logos App freed up that space. However the Logos App did not seem to know where to find the resource. Sorry for posting this here. It should probably be in a new post but I am already too invested in this thread now:-)

Select multiple books in the Library, then check the checkbox next to the mobile device you want all those resources to be downloaded to. (Or uncheck it to remove them all from that device.)

I don't think this works on Android.

As far as I can see this doesn't query the mobile device to determine if the resource is already downloaded - rather it assumes the "master knowledge" about this is in the L4 Library.

Is this correct? Is this the design intention?

The current implementation doesn't survey what is already downloaded to your mobile device before mobile download management became available. We're looking into this, and I expect it will in a future release.

Thanks; Yes, selecting the group does work. Removing does not work on Android. I realize that this is a work in progress, and if this feature disappeared tomorrow, Logos4 and the Apps would continue to function. I do believe the feature will become very useful, especially when the remove part of it is worked out. Thanks. [:)]

That could be useful but also a burden if 1000 books are downloaded; for the few on my device it is useful.

I found that the PC knew the books downloaded on my Samsung but it didn't cause any to be removed when deselected (on PC). With the current implementation, however, that should effectively restrict the books to be downloaded after a reinstall on the device (not tested, though).

Haven't had chance to do this yet but sounds good as I was wondering about multiple book selection. Only downloaded the beta today and being playing with the sermon file additions to PBB. Going to update my iPAD to IOS 6 this afternoon. Phone already done so might play with this feature on the phone a little later until the iPAD is upgraded.

I know Bob you are of the opinion we don't need the file size displayed on the info panel but would really love to see it displayed here in this section of the info panel so I can make a more informed choice of what I might want to add to a particular device and when I do that. Please re-consider.

I was able to reproduce the issue of mobile management not removing resources from Android devices. I have reported the issue to Development.
