Logos4 'Floating Windows' are 'too' separate from the main window, unlike Logos3

Logos4 'Floating Windows' appear to be 'too' separate from the main window, unlike Logos3. For the purpose of best utilizing my limited screen real estate, I prefer to have various overlapping windows within the main application window, but the Floating Windows all seem separate, almost like different applications. If I click on the main window, all my Floating Windows are hidden behind the main window. Any suggestions?

The floating windows behave as I would expect - and as you describe. It sounds to me as it the docked, tab approach is what would meet your needs.

For me, they don't behave as I would expect and in fact are quite different from industry standards. As an example, Photoshop CS4 supports multiple monitors. If I open two documents and move one of them to another monitor, within Windows 7, if I hover over the task bar, there is still a single window that shows up, and I can hide and restore all Photoshop windows from the task bar with a single click. Likewise, if I minimize Photoshop from the tool bar, both Photoshop windows minimize.

In Logos, the situation is entirely different (and unexpected). If the main program and three 'floaters' are open with the three floaters on my second monitor (for a total of four Logos windows), if I hover over the task bar, four windows show up, just as if I had started four instances of a program. In order to bring them all to the fore, I have to click on each one (which means, go down to the task bar, select the Logos window I want to see, and click. Repeat this process four times). Also, once I'm able to make the minimize button actually show up in the main program screeen (another display bug in Logos 4), if I minimize it, the other three floater windows still remain visible. Huhn? This has 'neat' side effects like this: sometimes, if a floating window is on top of the main program window, the floating window will not come to the front and will remain behind the main program window, unless via the Windows 7 task bar, the red 'x' is clicked to close it, so that it can then be opened again. I'd been meaning to post about this, but just hadn't found the impetus to do so until now.

Logos, please keep it this way. Sorry Matt but I would hate for all of them to be one instance on the taskbar. As it is now I can hit Window+1 for the first l4 window, Windows +11 for the next, and so on. I don't know how it works for other software, but for Logos I prefer the way it is. Actually every program I have that I can think of opens each in its instance.

I have no experience with Photoshop at all and my primary current multipane experience is in development environments for HTML, XML, OWL ... and I don't use Windows 7. I suspect that terminology is not yet consistent. Regardless of what you call it, it is behaving as I anticipated and as I want. But, since I use a single monitor, my needs may differ from your.s

I've often been annoyed by this behaviour on my laptop. It can be difficult to get the top "floater" to remain in place when I bring up another app. window as it disappears behind either the main L4 window or the other "Floater".

We can only make a suggestion that this behaviour be changed, if possible.

The completely separate and disconnected floating window as implemented is one of my favorite features of L4. Please keep it this way

If any changes need to be made tot he floater window it is: Always on top.

I really would like an ability to pin the floater to be always on top.

I would hate if all of the Logos windows come to the front at once. Sometimes I'll float a window over a webpage or over a word doc for very specific referncing. I don't need the entire program, just a single resource. I love being able to selectively "pull" resources out of the main app window for use alongside other apps. The issue is that I would like to be able to sometimes keep that pulled out window always visible over the top of the other app I'm working in.

Not only do I like the disconnected windows, it is one of the reasons I bought L4 for Christmas! I had tried stretching the single L3 window over my multiple monitor systems and it was not satisfactory.

I work with multiple monitors with multiple virtual desktops at my job. I spend a lot of time managing multiple linux systems using xwindows. All of those windows are disconnected and I wouldn't have it any other way.
