Consider reaching a bigger audience by adding a frame work for internationalization to reftagger

Hi!

I saw the note at the bottom of the FAQ that only English Bible references are supported at this time in reftagger but work on Spanish in in progress.

I would like to encourage you to instead of creating a new version for each language to create an internationalize version of reftagger that would allow new languages to be added easily. A new config should be added to allow sites to say for what languages they would like reference tagged in. Also instead of having a default bible version there should be a setting for a default version for each language.

I am from Switzerland where there are four official languages and websites can be in even more languages.

I'm guessing that the Spanish work is slow going because the page still says the same thing. Yes, I would like very much to see this internationalization. I currently need to support Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, and French in addition to English. Can some Logos programmer use their flex time to work on this?!

We do (finally) have someone actively working on improving RefTagger. One of the primary goals is to refactor the code to make localization possible, and we do plan to add support for at least Spanish. Unfortunately I don't have a time estimate available, but we'll be sure to post in this forum as soon as we have a working beta ready.
