That's because the 3D view has a Z-axis that goes into the monitor (in addition to the vertical X-axis and horizontal Y-axis). You can really only see the spacial differences in the 3D view while you move it around (Try it). You can even move one dot on top of another, but they are still distant from each other in the Z dimension. I find the 3D view to be mostly useless because of this.
Nevermind. I just realized you were talking about the titles and not the spacing.
I am able to reproduce the issue and will report it to Development.
