Suggestion: clearer button for the side panel

I like the new side panel that slides out on the iOS app.

However, the button access it (1) isn't immediately obvious to a new user, (2) is small awkward to get at in the top left-hand corner.

How about long, thin button in the middle of the left-hand edge of the screen, easy to get at with my thumb, with an arrow on it to indicate that something will slide out if you press on it?
