Crash and bug in Bible Word Study Guide

Here is a repeatable crash on my system:
1. Using the NKJV right click on the word "God" in Titus 3:4.
2. Using the Lemma, select Bible word Study.
3. Logos4 crashes
Here is the log file:
In the previous version there was a bug in the Word Study Guide that I had reported and others had confirmed (no one from Logos), that affected words that were used several times in the Bible (at least over 250 - especially over 1000 times).
It is documented part way down the page here:
http://community.logos.com/forums/t/4948.aspx
This bug still exists in the Beta.

Jack,
Mine doesn't crash in the release version either, but there are still problems in the release version.
Try doing a lemma word study on God from Titus 3:4, then using the translation tool, click on the biggest part of the circle (the blue part). After the verses are displayed, click on the blue part of the circle again to close it. At this point the circle should close and the verses that were displayed should disappear.
Instead what happens is a system hang with not responding showing on the top left of your screen. Sometimes closing the word study tool will also cause a significant hang. On my three systems I get about a 80 second hang.

There is a significant time lapse between clicking the blue ring and the closing of the window and disappearance of the verses. I did not time it, but I believe it was less than 80 seconds (more like 45). Since I am running Windows on a Mac OS under Fusion and the list of verses is long, I would naturally expect some slowness. I did see the "Not Responding" message a couple of times.
Not sure whether this confirms your experience or not. I tried the same thing in the Septuagint Translation. Now, I have a delay that is lengthy enough to believe that the system has frozen, and I have the "Not Responding" message. It did finally finish though. That was probably close to 120 seconds, but then that was a very long list of verses.
Perhaps the system is not really freezing. It just takes awhile for Logos to process that much information—even in just closing a window.

BTW, I hadn't really messed with the Bible Word Study feature in L4. Your post caused me to take a look. Thank you.

To add a bit more information:
The crash occurs if you run it directly from Bible Word Study and enter θεος
It even crashed when I created a new blank bible word study guide with no sections!
Other greek words run fine, including και, so it can't be simply related to number of occurences...

Hi thanks, I was able to reproduce this issue.

I get the same problem with doing word study from GK Bible or exegetical feature, how can this problem be repaired.

This bug was fixed in 4.0a Beta 3; are you running the latest beta?
Edit: Are you sure it's the same bug? If you post log files, we can confirm whether you're encountering the same problem.

I don't know what a beta is, but Libronix is 3.0g but I just got the Logos 4 last week if that tells you anything. How can I fix a bug?
Thanks

A beta is a piece of testing software. In Logos' case they are progressing through Beta testing of 4.0a; users are using Beta builds and reporting crashes/issues on the new features etc. This allows Logos to catch many of the potential problems with new versions before they give them to a wide audience. If you look at the top of this page you will see we are in the "PC Beta" subform, the place were we these things get reported. Any features you read about in this forum you will not have unless you decide to install the Beta with all its rewards and risks.
So, You can't fix a bug (problems with the software or crashes), you can only report them on the forum so the developers can look into the problems.
Hope this helps Tim.

Tim,
A beta is the name given to part of the testing phase of software. As a program is writen it goes from Alpha (not ready) to beta (still not really ready) to Release candidate [RC] (almost ready) and Gold (now it's ready). After a software is released there will be Service releases (bug fixes) and before new features are added to the gold, it kind of branches off to make a new beta. Once that beta goes through RC it will be on your desktop as the next gold release.
Like this:
YOU don't. Bradley and the other programmers will fix them, and once they've been tested to actually work, they'll be released in the gold release (upcoming 4.0a). Right now, if you look at the chart we're at Sr7 and Beta5 was just released last night.TimHogan said:How can I fix a bug?
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Thank you, I'll wait and check in with the techs, I have a lot of other things I can do with it, I'm thankful, just like I know we all are.
