Data usage spike

Now that Verizon doesn't offer unlimited data I am very cognizant of my data usage. I had a 237 megabyte spike in my data when I opened my Logos app the other day. I wonder if logos would add a new sort option in the library that includes "downloaded" items or "favorite books" so I can get to my frequently used books quickly and also avoid large data usage when I am not on wifi.

Or maybe they could add an option that only downloads books over wifi.

I have 653 resources in the iOS version of Logos. It is not feasible to down load them all to my device prior to heading out of the house.

Kyle: The latest iOS patch notes indicate that books will only be downloaded on wifi if I remember correctly. It could be your notes syncing? You'd need confirmation as it could be many things not just book downloads or your library building.

This is not strictly correct - it is more to do with automatic downloading when reinstalling the app.

I imagine it would/should also be the case when the app downloads updates to currently installed resources.

BTW, I'm not sure I completely agree with the new change where it doesn't download unless there is wifi, assuming that it is still an all automatic process. My problem with either implementation is it doesn't give the user a choice or--more importantly--notify the user that a long download is about to begin. I have unlimited data, so download aren't a problem, but whether on wifi or 3g/4g, I would like the app to notify me and ask me what to do if there is a large download, so I can make a choice. My main encounter with the issue was like in the thread above where I uninstalled/re-installed. The app was extremely sluggish for a while and I didn't know what was going on at the time, didn't know if the install was bad, had know idea it was downloading a lot of resources.

I agree and believe the info screen for the resources should also tell us the file size, both in mobile and desktop apps.

This data usage issue only affects iPhone 5 users on Verizon. There is already a fix for it as well.
