Small Caps button in notes is defaults to "on"

I am having a problem with the ABC button that causes everything to be in caps. For some reason it defaults to being selected so all my notes are in capitals. I can deselect for a note, but the next note defaults back to all caps. How can I fix this?

The problem is corrected. I had the small caps button on and created multiple new blank notes. It carried the formatting when I did that. When I de-selected the small caps button and then created a new note it cleared the problem. Thank you.
