entering scripture references

I've read a couple people less than happy about having to type verses into the box to navigate. Perhaps it wouldn't be too hard (well, as a programmer, it seems easy) to create something like a combo box where the dropdown would allow the user to click their way to whatever passage they want. Doesn't matter to me, but perhaps that would be an easy fix for people who want that choice.

IMHO the way Logos has it is much more fast and sophisticated. It suites much more to the professional Bible software.

I'm sure that a drop down box would be easy to program. However, it's a lot more time consuming than typing; it would take at least 4 clicks to get to a specific verse. Perhaps it might make sense for the iphone app to have this kind of navigation, but I really can't see it for the PC version.

I agree with the other posters. Combo boxes go against the "feel" of L4 and I think most prefer the text box. To have both the box and combos complicates the UI or creates another "Option" to choose from.

One thing that may help you is to know that you don't have to type the whole reference all the time. For instance if you are in Luke 1:1 and you want to go to Luke 1:10, just type " 10. If you want to go to Luke 2:10 just type "2:10". I know that makes it much nicer to me and something I had always wished they had built into L3.

It would be nice if when typing in a reference, that a drop down box would appear with previously typed in references that match (i.e. previously i typed in Luke1:10, and i type L and in the drop down Luke 1:10 showed up).

And don't forget that you don't have to type "Luke 2:10". "lk2.10" works

As I've given this a bit more thought I am able to conceive of a on where pressing the Up arrow (Or maybe a double mouse click) in the reference box would give a drop down much like the Morph box that would contain every book of the Bible, then Every chapter of that Book, Then every Verse. Then either press enter or do something else to select a closing verse. This would allow complete mouse selection without effecting the UI at all for those who prefer to never use the function.

I would rather Logos leave the interface uncluttered and clean.
