Mac Beta also crashing

I'm not sure which beta I'm running but beginning Friday evening, my Logos 4 Mac fails to open. From reading other posts, I'm getting in on this late and am not sure where to go to fix this.

I am running the PC version on VM Ware so can use that in the mean time, but what can I do to be able to load a workable version of the Mac?

Can I delete it from my Mac completely and then reinstall?

What is the solution here so I can become productive again instead of wasting hours?

Have you tried opening to a blank layout?
Have you tried reinstalling the beta engine over the current install?

I have tried to open when not connected to the internet, and that did not work.

I am not sure how to do either of your suggestions?

1. To load to a blank layout, press and hold the command key immediately after starting Logos. This will bring up the log in screen and allow you to check a box.

2. To reinstall the engine, download the beta from HERE.

Okay, I tried opening to a blank layout, it crashed within 5 seconds.

I then reinstalled the beta engine over the current install, it still crashed.

So I then tried to open to a blank desktop and offline. This did seem to work. I got as far as the desktop, but when I tried to open a resource, the NKJV Bible, it crashed.

I read on other threads a problem with the visual filters may be the culprit. If this is so, I do have visual filters turned in my most of my Bibles.

What should I try next?

I had another idea, so I reopened with a blank desktop and offline. I was able to open the Library window. I opened a resource that would have no highlighting or visual filters associated with it. It opened and appeared on the screen for a nano second before crashing.

I would suggest that you post logs... I will give a link to the wiki about logging. You will first need to enable logging... then start up Logos. After it crashes, post the logs here in the forum.

Same thing happening for me - crashes when I open to the homepage. Open to a blank layout works fine. Problem is new - did not happen when I first installed beta 3.

Robert, based on your posts it seems like you are having a different issue. As Alabama suggested, we will need diagnostic logs from your program for further troubleshooting.

I think that is correct. Yesterday I talked with tech help and they enabled the logging. They were unable to figure anything out since it was a Beta issue and directed me to this forum.

I have quite a few visual filters I have created over the years. The thought of deleting them is not pleasant. Is there a way to find those files and simply remove them from Logos and then add them back one at a time to see which one is the nasty culprit?

My Beta is also crashing. I enabled logging and it won't crash when I have a blank layout. How can I downgrade to a Stable edition. I tried downloading the latest Stable and it would not work. Do I have to look for the last Stable before this beta (download it and install)?

Wonder if have recently purchased a lot of resources ?

Appears the Home Page is crashing when trying to build a list of updated resources.

One option is opening to a blank layout for about a week. Another option is using Logos 4 on Windows to change Home Page preference to show updated resources. Third option is hoping and praying for a Logos 4.6a Beta release that has a fix for this crash.

Just adding my voice to the others that have had issues the last day or so.

I've tried holding the cmd key, opening to a blank layout, etc.

So far I can only open if I hold CMD, and log in offline mode. I can't update resources that way, but at least I can get my work done for services tonight... [:D]

I re-downloaded the current beta engine, installed it over my existing, no change for better or worse.

Yes. I have bought a few resources and I have downloaded a few free resources (from Logos and Vyrso). So maybe that could be the reason. I will do as you suggest and wait a week for the next release.

It looks like a new version of the Beta is available now. Can I download that over my current beta to see if that fixes the problem?
