Reading Plan stuck/not syncing

I have a kindle fire hd with the latest version from the amazon app store.  It seems to work fine except the reading plan is stuck on 2 kings 6-7.  It says it is completed (which it is) but never updates to another day.  I cannot even remove the check mark saying the reading is complete.  Not sure what I should try as it will not let me move forward or back as far as the reading plan is concerned.
