Questions/suggestions

I just got an android tablet and have downloaded and started using Logos for Android.  I have a few questions that are also suggestions if what I am trying to do is not possible. Big Smile

1) Linking - I would like to be able to quickly link and unlink the two panels without having to go through the settings.  Reason being as I am reading scripture I keep the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge linked but when I get to a certain passage I may want to quickly unlink and tap through the various links and open them in my bible (rather than use the popups) without changing the position in TSK.  When I am done looking at the links and ready to continue reading in the bible I link them again so TSK keeps up.

2) scroll a line at a time - Is this possible?  It seems you can only scroll a page at a time.  The reason I would like to scroll a line at a time is that when I open a scripture link from TSK I would like to see this scripture in context and be able to scroll it to the center of the screen.  I can do this by manually navigating a few lines down but this takes too much time when I am going through a lot of links that I want to open in the bible rather than just view in a popup.  It would be handy to be able to navigate by line as easily as we can by page.

3) I notice that in the passage guide the topics tab does not have any topics.  Is this not up and running yet or am I doing something wrong?

Does anyone have an answer to these question?  Particularly about the topics.

    Hi Tim,

I use an iPad but I think it's similar. On the split screen, where the two meet, there should be a light grey half circle. On the iPad if you hold it down you access the option to unlink the panels. I would assume it works the same on the Android.

The Android app does not have that ability (at least mine does not).

I had an issue with the Android Logos app on a few instances and this problem is an addition to what I have seen on this page. I am going from an iphone and ipad Logos experience to the Android version and when I checked out the app on my friend's device, I have noticed so many things that are missing.
For one, it is the user experience I feel, that is lacking on the Android app. On the iOS version, all the highlights and markings look different than on the Android. The Highlighter Pens look like genuine highlighters when used in IOS and they are different from the highlighting that's done using Solid Colours. But on the Android they look the same. The highlighter Pens do not have that genuine feel as programmed in the iOS app.
The main reason I liked Logos over Kindle and other apps on the iOS is that even in "Low Light" (white text on black background) mode, the colours of the highlighters stayed the same. That is regardless of the text and background colour, a yellow highlighter looked yellow and red looked like red. But in the Android app, the moment you choose the "Low Light" mode, the colours are inverted on the phone and the yellow highlighter becomes blue, green become purple and red becomes green. When you go back to the normal black text on white background the colour becomes normal. My different colour highlights have a meaning to me, in how I understand Scripture or commentaries and if I can't see the right colour in the reading mode I choose to read on, this poses a serious concern for me.
And now I read from this post that the grey half circle to link the panels is not there is an added blow. The feature I loved on the iOS app was, I constanly do not link the panels. I just read the verses above and scroll freely through the commentary below. And when I want to sync the two without hitting the actual button to link panels, all you have to do is touch the grey circle and hold for a few seconds, the other panel syncs with the last panel you touched. And now I hear that even the feature to link panels isn't there.

Logos is a beautiful app and I do not understand why they do not make the Android version as pretty and beautiful to use as the iOS app.

This is available on Android but invoked in a different way.

At the top of the menu screen you will see an icon looking like a gear or sprocket.

Click on that and select Settings and select "Link Panels" within that settings menu

They are working on it and this is the intention. However, the iOS app was produced first and so is farther ahead.

There have been really significant advances in the Android app over recent months.

Hi Graham, thanks for letting me know how to do this.

I totally agree that the iOS is far ahead and I am sure that Logos will update the Android app to be on par with the iOS app.

They have never ceased to satisfy their customers. =)

    God Bless.
