I purchased one of the MacArthur commentaries and then opened Logos. It is not there and nothing is downloading. I have restarted numerous times and still nothing. Any ideas?
Thanks for the welcome. I tried that and it said no updates found.
There have been glitches at times that made it take an hour or more to begin downloading - but first I would double check that you signed in on the Logos website with the same email/password that you used when you signed into the software.
Now that you said that, I believe I may be signed into the software with a different email/password than website. I know I sound like a noob for this question, which I am, but how do I sign out and back in with the software?
Here is basically what I have done. I am the lead pastor at my church and we own the logos software. My worship leader had it on his cpu first. He then installed it on mine. I purchased the software from the website and I guess when I did that I created a new user email and password. So now when I use the iphone app signing in with that email and password the purchased materials are there. The resources are not there on my laptop. So am I basically now not going to be able to access the resources on my laptop since I am assuming that I am signed on with the email and password he originally created and then used to sign me into the software on my laptop?
Hope that makes sense.
I don't know if I followed your last post… but just to clarify… Logos is licensed to only one person. You cannot legally install it on another persons computer. You may install it on as many computers as you own for your personal use… you may not share the resources with other staff members.
Gotcha. Let me clarify a little. Both the cpu I use and he uses are owned by the church and used by both of us so when I used the words "my" laptop it was just out of habit since I may have it in my possession 60% of the time. But if that is in any way breaking any kind of license then I will for sure delete it from one of the cpu's.
I see what you are saying. I will delete it from the one I use and make sure he is the sole user.
Hi Jay
Let me try and unpick your post a little more. I know it's complicated but Logos are quite generous with their licensing.
First of all - the actual software is free. You can download it an install it on as many devices as you wish.
Resources (books) are the thing that gets charged for and to which the licence applies.
So the good old lead pastor technically did nothing wrong by installing the software on your computer - he broke the licence condition when he gave you his password and log in details.
When you brought resources using your password you were and are entitled to use those resources (he is not).
If you have access to those resources when signed in on your iPhone you are entitled to use them on your account on your computer but they will be distinct and separate from the resources that the lead pastor has on his.
You now have a couple of options.
You can continue, with the two separate accounts that you have and build up your own libraries.
or
You can contact customer services and ask them to transfer the resources into one account that only one of you may (licence condition) use.
Thank you so much for the post. It was very clarifying and tremendously helpful. I would love to continue both accounts and build up my own personal library. The only resources I want to use are the ones I have purchased so far. One last question and please forgive my ignorance. Do I need to uninstall the software and reinstall signing in with my info or is it possible to somehow sign out and back in with my account info without reinstalling?

No need to reinstall - you can log in under different credentials.
The article at http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_Not_Starting shows how to do this.
(The article is aimed at addressing problems if Logos doesn't start but shows how to get to the login screen which is what you need)

Just to clarify a bit more...
You can use Graham's suggestion for signing out of the desktop app. The mobile app does not have this feature... you must delete the app and reinstall it.
Gotcha. Thanks guys for all the assistance and thank you for your graciousness in helping me walk through this. It was definitely never my intent to break any licensing agreement. I'm ready to continue building my own personal library and am excited about using this amazing software for ministry moving forward.
Glad to help Jay! [:)]

Thanks for picking up on this - I had missed the fact that an iPhone figured in this
