Here is the old and new display versions of the ESV at the same width:
Both the kerning and line spacing are tighter in the new version. I find the old version to be easier on the eyes.
Thanks for reporting this bug; I can reproduce it.
By the way, there is a new "Line Spacing" option under "Text Display" in Program Settings. For now you could work around this problem by setting it to "Loose" (which, with the new display, is more similar to "Normal" under the old display).

Yes, I saw that, but "New" Loose is looser than "Old" Normal, plus the kerning (which is also tighter) isn't affected by the Line Spacing option. It's not a big enough deal that I need a workaround while it's being fixed, but I did find that the old text layout seemed just about perfect, so I wanted to make sure the new code didn't mess it up.
What are you complaining about? I really like the tighter text. [;)]
Both these problems should be fixed in an upcoming release. (As it turned out, the old display had changes made to make its kerning better at the same time that the new display was added, and these changes weren't ported to the new display. So the new display actually matched the old display from Alpha 4...)
There will also be a new default font added in an upcoming release. It turns out that WPF has a bug that prevents it from using the font's desired line spacing. So the old display (WPF) will actually have tighter line spacing than the new display for this new font. For all other fonts, the old and new displays should line up pretty well, though.
There will also be a new default font added in an upcoming release.
Really? I hope it's as good as the current one.

I jest. Really. [:D] If you hate it as much as I do, check out THIS WEBSITE.
This issue should have been fixed in a previous release.
