.Beta 4 changed TWO features at the same time -- this makes it very difficult to test/evaluate.
1. The most visible: In Beta 4 the syntax codes [grid] for SF no longer appears within the sermon--instead, only the actual indexing appears (at the end of a document).
This radically changes the way Sermon File codes were used in Libronix 3.
[There are still many Sermon File users who are NOT Beta testers--therefore they will have no input into these changes]
Yes, I agree that some SF users will find it helpful that "sometimes" such code not appear. [perhaps they would wish that it be removed for aesthetic purposes in "unique", non-generic documents.]
But, IF the Beta 4 version is the finished product, you have removed (former) functionality ESPECIALLY if
2. you have also removed the (non-indexed--but at least visible) venue/speaker fields
[This is an issue because as it is presently used in Libronix 3 and as it first appeared in Beta 3 these individual files (Sermons & Illustrations) are being collected/collated/added to etc -- all within "one" Resource. [ie when you have many, many sermons or illustrations it is much much easier to see ALL of its particular "indexed" material gathered in that grid at the very beginning of these (usually) shorter documents.
SUGGESTION:
As of now (based on the old Libronix 3 system) these codes only create EITHER a Sermon file or an Illustration file
REQUEST:
It is possible for the developers to perhaps add one more "type" of syntax code: (perhaps titled "monograph") -- thereby now generating three different types of documents: Sermon, Illustration, and monograph?
"Monograph" would NOT need either of the speaker/venue codes but could have a this (newer) shorter index at the end..
AND the missing speaker/venue codes might then be RETURNED to the Sermon & Illustration syntax.
I still have not figured out
a. how this will help those who are NOT presently serving as Beta testers (and yet are still out there (im)patiently waiting for their familiar Sermon/Illustration Files to be finally implemented within Logos 4)]. What will be the response when they discover that what they had used in Libronix 3 is now to appear in Logos 4 as Sermon File "light"?
b.IF there were a "Monograph" setting for some documents (with no-visible code at the beginning):
Is there then any option in which codes can be returned to the beginning of the Sermons and Illustration where many used them to quickly discover the included tagging/venues/speakers if not /topics etc.?
I find it difficult to evaluate/suggest changes due to the fact that there have been these 2 "conflicting" changes made at the same time.
.And the fact that some (of us) may like the (occasional) "option" to remove the visible syntax code from the "front end".
Developers: if you do not see the conflict these 2 changes might have created can you please dialogue with a few pastors to discover whether they too will be confused]
