Pricing structure

I have a suggestion for Logos. Recently I was looking to purchase Karen Jobes book "Letters to the Church: A Survey of Hebrews and the General Epistles," which you have listed at $44.95. I guess I am puzzled why the price is so high, when I can purchase the hardback version for $30 and the Kindle version for $18. Why such a large discrepancy?

I am currently living and working as a missionary in France, and my budget is limited. I have found that Logos books are becoming more and more outside my budget, which is leading me to purchase the kindle versions when I need a commentary, et. al. Yes, I know all the arguments about ease of use and the connection between resources, but that matters little when I have to decide what I need. I can use a kindle edition of a book well enough for what I need.

So, why do you need to run your prices so high, and what can you do to help the "professionals" who would like access to more books for their library.

I enjoy the LIbronix program, and it is helpful, but it is quickly receding into the background as a resource (except for language study) because of the prohibiting prices.

Quick answer - when you purchase a Logos edition, you are paying for a "value added" resource. You are paying the publisher for the book AND Logos to tag the book and make it compatible with your Logos library. Vyrso editions are more comparable with Kindle editions… and are fairly competitive.

I think the value in Logos is found in their base packages, some pre-pubs, and select community pricing sets. There is a Christmas sale coming up (I'm broke!) along with other sales throughout the year.

You must remember that Logos sells the resources, but does not always have full control over the pricing. The publishers have been known to have a large hand in setting the price. This sometimes means that the same resource from the same publisher can be priced very differently depending on the format and channel through which it is sold.

I have some resources in another Bible software company's format for this reason. I also have some Kindle books for the same reason. However when I want a resource to be integrated into my Logos library, I only have one choice. You have three for this volume. Rejoice!

I don't know anything about this resource and what is behind the pricing. Unless a Logos employee weighs in, the rest of us are just guessing.
