BUG: Search from Home Page Replaces Contents of Current Layout

I have my window (layout) split. On the left are my Bibles. On the right are my research resources (commentary, dictionary, etc.).
I come across a concept I want to research, so I click on the little house icon to go to the Home page where I type in my search term and press Enter. L4 takes me back to my reading window, where the layout format remains (two panels) but all of my resources are gone (well, the search results are showing). Why?
I know this used to ADD the search results to my open resources. Now I have to click on the Layouts menu option and then backup in time to restore my windows and resume my research.

Hey Steve - Doing a search through the "go" button on the homepage creates a NEW layout… it doesn't add content to your current one. If you want to keep your current layout active, use the search menu instead.

Hi Steve
You can avoid the layout destruction by not clicking on the little house, but instead typing your search term into the command window at the top (if I understand your question).
Logos designed the homepage query for total simplicity where users wouldn't know the ins/outs of setting up layouts.
EDIT: Type faster, Denise, faster.

Thanks for the responses.
I agree with the answers, and have confirmed what you describe is true. However, I still believe that it is a bug to create a new layout (replacing the active layout the user is working with) when I use Search from the Home screen as opposed to the Layouts screen. Why should search results be different based on where you type the question? We're not talking about context sensitive help on the operation of the software, we're talking about research help. I just can't imagine a software engineer designing the software by thinking: "Let's clear the current layout when presenting search results from the Home screen, but add a tab to the active layout when the search is performed from the current layouts window."
I still consider it a bug. The responses point out that there is a simple work-around. I'll use the work-around, but I still think it's confusing and should be fixed.

A bug is something that isn't working as intended. This isn't a bug because it is working as intended… The "go" button is intended to help someone start a new search project, including the creation of a new layout. I understand that you disagree, but why would you go all the way to the homepage just to use the "go" button when a simpler (and intentional) solution is available at hand? There are certainly areas in Logos that I wish operated differently, but they aren't "bugs" but (imo) "design deficiencies." [;)]
