does the home screen come up like the video shows or does the alpha version not work like that?
You will be lucky if you get the Alpha version to work at all. It is still in the very early stages. I have removed it from my macbook until it is a little more stable. but to answer your question the home screen in alpha is blank.

The home screen feature is blank in Mac L4 Alpha because they have not implemented this feature yet.
