Just upgraded computers - bought a new Macbook pro. This morning I installed Logos 4. It opens fine, and the home screen looks normal, but when I put a scripture reference in the search box, it immediately crashes.
Any thoughts?
Yes. You need to enable and post logs. [:)]

ok - I'm assuming this is what I need to do - but this is quite confusing to me. Terminal reminds me a bit of DOS back in the day. Do I copy and paste the bold parts of #3 or what?
Understand remembrance of DOS; the bold part of # 3 is the defaults command with appropriate parameters. Expanded step 2 comment to (inside Utility folder in Applications, then copy command in next step, paste into terminal, and press enter to execute command)
Option is downloading an applescript application => http://community.logos.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/CommunityServer.Discussions.Components.Files/66/5504.Logos4MacLogging.app.zip that can display then change logging setting. The applescript application uses the command in # 3 to enable logging.
Keep Smiling [:)]
It didn't solve my problem. I did receive the "1" when I ran the read portion. It still crashed at the same point. I tried to install the linked file, but am running into a little problem w/ my security settings. I'll keep trying!
Same here! I ran Terminal and manually entered to no avail. Then downloaded and ran script. It worked a moment longer, but then crashed again. Any more ideas?

Did you download the applescript programs that KS4J linked to? They are much easier to use than trying to use the terminal.

I'm not sure I am following this conversation… to clarify: The applescript program is designed to enable logging. You are supposed to turn logging ON and run Logos 4. When it crashes, you grab the logs and upload them here. The applescript program isn't designed to fix the crashes… its designed to help you get logs so that others can diagnose what is happening with your installation. (Just because both of you have crashing apps, doesn't mean they are crashing for the same reasons).
Does that clarify things, or am I not understanding you?
Added note to wiki:
OS X 10.8 Gatekeeper: AppleScript application is unsigned so GateKeeper setting has to be changed to allow applications downloaded from anywhere; the default allows applications from Mac App Store and identified developers. Apple => System Preferences => Security & Privacy => General
Logos wiki has => http://wiki.logos.com/Mac_Troubleshooting#How_to_Report_Bugs_in_Logos_4_Mac
Enabling diagnostic logging is the first step; each time Logos 4 launches, the diagnositc log files are overwritten.
The 3rd step in "How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac" has your Logos4 logging folder location within your Library. After repeating crash with logging enabled (step 2), please compress your Logging folder, then use the paper clip to attach file to a forum reply (to this thread).
Logos 4 has many crash causes; without diagnostic log files, humanly have no idea what is causing crash.
yikes - totally didn't understand what was going on here. Thanks for being patient w/ me.
I have successfully enabled logging, how do I go about getting what I need after it crashes?

Logos wiki has => http://wiki.logos.com/Mac_Troubleshooting#How_to_Report_Bugs_in_Logos_4_MacPlease continue with step 3. If have question(s) about any step(s), please ask.
Personally looking for a zip file attached to a reply, which has contents of your Logging folder that has diagnostic log files.
0361.Logging.zip
I think I got it! I think there's a reason I'm a pastor and not a computer specialists!
Thanks again for the help!
Looking at Logos4.log file noticed 4.0b SR-4, version 4.10.4.9457, which was released on 1 Nov 2010.
Recommend using Upgrade Error steps to manually upgrade Logos 4 Mac application => http://wiki.logos.com/Mac_Troubleshooting#Update_Error
Logos 4 has added many features since 4.0b, including Personal Books; wiki has => http://wiki.logos.com/Personal_Books
Caveat: to completely index a Logos library now take many more hours.
Logos 4.0b SR-4 is crashing when checking meta data to determine which resource(s) to update. Upgrading to current stable Logos 4.6 SR-2 release should resolve this crash.
Got it! Problem solved - thanks again!
Rejoicing with you [:D]
Please reply and attach a zip file with diagnostic log files.
Another option is contacting Logos Technical Support => http://www.logos.com/about/contact
Logos 4 is a complex application; have seen a number of different causes for crashes so need to look at diagnostic files before can offer suggestion(s).

You said you installed it that morning. Did it finish indexing?
Here are my logging files from the most recent crash.

Casey – It would be helpful for you to create a new thread. It is difficult to follow a conversation with several people at once when dealing with personal, technical issues.
Couldn't Logos post the last update before this one that is crashing? Wouldnt that get us back up and running?
Kevin,
Logos just released a "service release" here
If have experienced a startup crash with Logos 4.6a, then need to manually download and replace application.Logos 4.6a SR-1 (4.61.0.3356) direct download link => https://s3.amazonaws.com/downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LBS4MacInstaller/4.61.0.3356/Logos4Mac.dmg
Thankful for Logos releasing a 4.6a Service Release 1 with startup crash issue fixed.
Note: startup crashes on OS X 10.5 and OS X 10.6; the Logos4Error.log has NSCFDictionary in error message with nil value while the Apple Crash Report includes " Assertion failed: (exception == nil), function -[OurAppController"
