I try to read through a different Bible translation each year. Right now I am reading through the ISV. It reads very well, definitely a dynamic equivalency approach to translation. At $10, I would recommend you check it out.

It is a very interesting read, particularly passages which are regarded by the translators as "poetic". While their poetry may not be "top-drawer" the results are interesting and kind of catchy. Have a look at 1 Corinthians 13 or Philippians 2:5-11.
