Got logos to run quite smoothly on my macbook late 2011 (logos portfolio)

This might be an obvious post, but I thought I would still out it out there. I have a late 2011 Macbook pro. When I got the computer it ran sluggishly. I have logos portfolio with a few other smaller commentary sets and various resources.

 

I am currently running 16gb of ram (2x8gb) Corsair mac compatible ram and a 90GB SSD (Sata 3 - Ocz vertex). There is a huge difference when running a passage guide or doing a library search.

I previously had 8 gb (2x4gb) ram from gskill, and when I made the switch I could see a significant difference in speed of operation.

Thanks for the info, but I couldn't quite make out exactly what you did:

Are you saying that you doubled the RAM and it made a difference?

Or are you saying that you doubled the RAM and added an SSD?

If the second, then I would say I also had a similar performance boost when I added an SSD (but without doubling the RAM).

If the first, I would like to hear a few more details (like how many apps you have running), because I didn't think that doubling the RAM from 8 to 16 would make a big difference (at least not like doubling from 4 to 8 would).
