Bug: RC1 Not Responding when switching EBC

L5 shows "not responding" after switching EBC from Vol 8 (Mt 25) to Vol 5 (Prov 16) via its text box. It eventually completes. New Display code = 0. Repeatable.

NB. When I hit the resource back/left arrow button it goes to the title page of Vol 5 and the next hit returns to Vol 8.

I can reproduce this with the old display code, but not the new display. The old display has known performance problems (although I hadn't run into any quite this bad before); that's why we're replacing it with the new display.

It's much worse with L5 than v4.6a on the same machine. The response to opening other resources in tabs for the first time is also slower (roughly 0.5s). But I'm not ready to commit to the new display code until all the artefacts are worked out.

WPF 4 significantly regressed text rendering performance, which is why Logos 5 can be so much slower. (We reported this to Microsoft 18 months ago: https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/637517/text-rendering-performance-can-be-much-slower-in-wpf4.) We had to write the new display to work around this problem.

But I'm not ready to commit to the new display code until all the artefacts are worked out.

Using the new display and reporting any problems you encounter will help us ensure all the artifacts are worked out before release. [:)]

I have been using the New Display exclusively and other than the one reported issue with Greek font not displaying properly I Have not seen any issues and it is a lot faster! I l like it.

Other than the assorted missing special character, the new display is so much better than the old display in L5. I always regret switching back to the old display.

You're right that the old display seems worse in L5 than it did in L4.

It would also help if the new Default font could be re-sized as it is too large at 100% as reported previously and Title pages with larger fonts don't look sharp. It looks better at roughly 90%.
