Perhaps I don't understand something here. Why would I want to mark all forums read? There may be a thread or two I wish to ignore, but why would I want to mark everything as read? If I wanted that, I would just unsubscribe.

What this feature lets you do is... read all of the relevant threads you are interested in, and then mark the forums as read. Then, when you next visit, you will only see new posts and replies that have been written since you last visited the forums.JackCaviness said:Why would I want to mark all forums read? At the moment this can be done, but only by going into each forum individually to "Mark all posts read" for that forum. Allowing it to be done across all forums is a considerable time saver and makes the forums much more user-friendly for visitors.

Perhaps that would be desirable for some of you, but I don't have all that much trouble holding down the command key (Mac) and clicking each time stamp. If the thread in that tab does not interest me, I close the tab. I may be busy, but a half-second does not seem worth so much trauma.

No, but the next time you "View New Posts" all of the threads you chose not to click before are still there cluttering up the screen.JackCaviness said:Perhaps that would be desirable for some of you, but I don't have all that much trouble holding down the command key (Mac) and clicking each time stamp. The time saving is in having to manually open each individual sub-forum to click the "Mark All Posts Read" button that resides in that forum. We are requesting a global "Mark All Posts Read" button to significantly improve the forum user experience.

I went to Windows and Internet Explorer, and now I see your problem. It is much easier on the Mac in Safari to very quickly open each thread with unread posts in new tabs and then close the ones that do not interest you.
