Are the Index files the same for Mac & PC?

Does anybody know for sure if the index files are the same format for both the PC and the Mac? I was just thinking, since the Mac seems to take such a long time to index if you could just copy over the index files from the PC to the Mac and save some time. It seems reasonable since the biggest part of the code base is the same and I assume the same resource files will work on either the PC or Mac. Just a thought.

Not sure, but I just copied my index files from my virtual machine into the index folder on my mac. I've never let the mac program index before. I opened A5 and all my resources show up; the indexer started and took 15 minutes to finish. Seems like it works.

Theoretically, they should be, but in practice, the number of resources might differ since some resources are indexable on Windows that Mac doesn't handle yet. So you could have search results that do strange things if you simply use your Windows indexes. It's definitely not a supported configuration.

Alpha 5 should have improved indexing performance, both in terms of memory and speed, so you might want to give it a try if you haven't already.
